Amman - Desert Castles - Amman “City Tour”
Amman - Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a journey through history to visit the Desert Castles (Qaser Amra, Qaser Kharaneh, and the citadel of Azraq). These castles, remarkable examples of Islamic art and architecture, feature engravings and stuccos inspired by Persian and Greco-Roman traditions, telling countless stories from the eighth century. Known as castles due to their grand size, these desert complexes served various purposes, including caravan stations, agricultural and commercial centers, and outposts for rulers to connect with local Bedouins. Located east and south of Amman, many of these sites are preserved and accessible for day trips. After exploring the castles, return to Amman to visit the city (Amman Citadel, the Roman Theater, Archaeological Museum, city tour).
Amman - Ajloun - Jerash - Amman
Ajloun Castle - After breakfast at the hotel, set off for Ajloun through pine and olive forests to explore the impressive Ajloun Castle, known in Arabic as (Qal’at Ar-Rabad). Built by one of Saladin’s generals in 1184 A.D., the castle was designed to control local iron mines and prevent Frankish invasions. Ajloun Castle commanded the three main routes to the Jordan Valley and safeguarded trade routes between Jordan and Syria.
Continue to Jerash (Gerasa), a top tourist destination in Jordan, second only to Petra. The ancient city of Jerash has been continuously inhabited for over 6,500 years. Conquered by General Pompey in 63 BC, it came under Roman rule and was incorporated into the League of the Decapolis, an alliance of ten prominent Roman cities.
Amman - Madaba - Mount Nebo - The Kings Road - Kerak Stronghold - Petra
Madaba Governorate - After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Holy Land of Canaan and was buried. It is a revered sacred site in Jordan and a pilgrimage destination for early Christians.
Travel along the Kings’ Road, with Madaba, known as the “city of mosaics,” being a highlight. The main attraction is housed in the contemporary Greek Orthodox church of St. George. After visiting Madaba and Mount Nebo, continue south on the Kings’ Road, one of the world’s oldest trade routes, stretching 200 miles along the Jordanian ridge. Proceed to Kerak through the stunning Wadi al Mujib canyon to visit its impressive Crusader castle (1142 AD). Visitors will be captivated by the softly lit rooms and corridors interconnected by heavy arches and doorways.
Petra
Petra - Wadi Musa - After breakfast at the hotel, spend a full day exploring Petra, an ancient Nabatean city, and its treasures. The visit begins with a 700-meter walk to the entrance of the narrow and spectacular gorge (Siq), leading to the breathtaking view of the Treasury (El Khazneh) and the building facades. Continue to explore the Royal Tombs, the Cardo, temples, churches, museums, and the Monastery or High Place of Sacrifice. Overnight at the hotel.
Petra - Little Petra “Beidha” - Wadi Rum
Petra - Wadi Musa - After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the Neolithic village of Little Petra. Continue to the magnificent Wadi Rum, described by T.E. Lawrence as “vast, echoing, and divine.” Wadi Rum, the largest and most stunning desert in Jordan, features timeless and pristine landscapes. Monolithic rock formations rise up to 1,750 meters in this desert terrain. Those who enjoy walking can relish the tranquility of vast spaces, explore canyons and water wells, discover 4,000-year-old rock drawings, and uncover many other spectacular treasures. Also known as the “Valley of the Moon,” this location served as the headquarters for Prince Faisal Bin Hussein and T.E. Lawrence during the Arab Revolt against the Ottomans in World War I. Bedouin dinner.
Wadi Rum - Dead Sea “private beach” - Amman
Wadi Rum - After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth at 400 meters below sea level, rich in historical and spiritual heritage. Its banks were home to five biblical cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Zoar (Bela). Today, the eastern shore is sparsely populated and serene. With a landscape unchanged over centuries, it is an ideal destination for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying good food. Access a private beach at the Dead Sea for a swim and perhaps indulge in the special muds and freshwater pools. Relax in the calm waters of this lake, where sinking is virtually impossible! Enjoy an invigorating massage or experience the healing powers of minerals from the muddy seabed. At the end of the day, return to Amman for an overnight stay at the hotel.
