- King Abdullah Mosque - Enjoy a stunning viewpoint of the city from the Citadel before visiting the King Abdullah Mosque, one of Amman’s most famous and recognizable landmarks. Built as a memorial for the late King Abdullah I, the Blue Mosque, as it is commonly known, is a prime example of Islamic architecture. It can accommodate up to 3,000 worshippers. The spacious, octagonal prayer hall is topped by a magnificent blue dome, 35 meters in diameter, adorned with Qur’anic inscriptions. This is the only mosque in Amman that openly welcomes non-Muslim visitors. There is free time for those who wish to pray, followed by the continuation of the pilgrimage tour.
- The Cave of the Seven Sleepers - Proceed with a short drive to the east of Amman to visit “Al-Rakim Cave,” the site of the Seven Sleepers story. This tale involves a group of youths who sought refuge in a cave outside Ephesus around 250 A.D. to escape religious persecution, only to emerge 300 years later. The cave was part of a Byzantine graveyard. The entrance to the cemetery leads to a central hall that branches into three shrines with vaulted arch ceilings. There are seven stone graveyards in the eastern and western “Alkutin” front door, adorned with engineering and plant motifs. Return to the hotel in Amman, where the tour concludes.
