- Lempuyang Temple - Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a Balinese Hindu temple located on Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem Regency, Bali. It is the first and lowest temple in the Pura Lempuyang complex. The highest temple, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, is one of the Sad Kahyangan Jagad or “six sanctuaries of the world,” which are the six holiest places of worship in Bali, and it is also one of the nine directional temples of Bali.
- Tirta Gangga - Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace situated in eastern Bali, Indonesia. Named after the sacred Ganges River in India, it is renowned for the Karangasem royal water palace, its bathing pools, and the Patirthan temple.
- Ujung Water Palace - The name translates to “Garden at the End” or “Garden at the Edge.” Spanning 12 hectares (30 acres), the palace features three large pools. At the center of the main pool is the Gili Bale (“island pavilion”), which is connected to the pool’s edge by a bridge. Unlike typical Balinese bale, this structure has walls and a distinctive Dutch colonial white façade. Another unique feature is the use of concrete, which was considered a new technology and a sign of Western influence at the time. One original structure is the Bale Kapal, which has a staircase on the west side of the palace, offering views over the ponds, coconut groves, Ujung Beach, and Mount Lempuyang.
- Virgin Beach - Virgin Beach is a popular destination on the East Coast of Bali in Karangasem. It boasts soft white sands and clear blue waters. The entrance fee is IDR 10,000 per person (for foreign tourists, as of Aug 2020). The road leading to the beach is excellent, offering stunning views along the way.
Numerous warungs and beach bars line the beach, selling food and drinks. Sun loungers are available for rent at reasonable prices. Some restaurants also offer body massages for those interested.
The beach features strong waves and rocks in the sand. Swimming is possible, but caution is advised as there is no lifeguard on duty.
- Tukad Cepung Waterfall - Tukad Cepung Waterfall is a unique and photogenic site in Bali, known for the sunlight that filters through the rock crevices, creating a dramatic light effect. The waterfall stands about 15 meters high and resembles a giant curtain cascading between cliffs. Located in Bangli, it is a popular spot for tourists, especially photography enthusiasts.
- Goa Raja Waterfall - The Goa Raja Waterfall is a newly discovered hidden gem in east Bali, located a short distance from the well-known Tukad Cepung Waterfall.
This location is easily accessible from Ubud and features a large waterfall inside a cave, as the name suggests (Goa Raja means ‘king cave’ in Indonesian).
There is also a small natural pool for swimming. Overall, this waterfall is preferred over Tukad Cepung, and it attracts fewer tourists.
