Excellent Dim Tours - This was our first time in Sri Lanka and we wanted to see some of the island. We was recommended Dim Tours by a family member that had used his services last year. Having checked his reviews we decided to book a couple of trips, the first being the whale watching and the second being The Udawaluwe Safari. Communication with Dim prior to our visit was always very good letting us know times and places to meet. For both trips he arrived early and his SUV was spotless and had decent air conditioning. He also provided bottles of fresh water for both trips. Dim himself was always very friendly and we felt very safe in his company. He was very knowledgeable about both trips plus regarding his country. We chatting to him about all sorts of things to do with the Island and in most cases he had the answers. His driving was also very safe even though the roads are very chaotic but I’m not sure what he would have done with his horn 😂. I would highly recommend Dim Tours to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.
Celebrating Vesak Under the Stars
As the day winds down, the streets of Ambalangoda come alive with the glow of Vesak lanterns and pandals. Despite the rain, the festival’s spirit is undeterred, with locals and visitors alike gathering to admire the intricate displays. The air is filled with the aroma of traditional Sri Lankan street food, offering a feast for the senses.
Join the locals in lighting a Vesak lantern, a symbol of hope and enlightenment. The gentle flicker of candlelight against the night sky creates a magical atmosphere, inviting reflection and connection. As you wander through the festival, the sound of traditional music and the laughter of children add to the joyous ambiance.
Whether you’re exploring the cultural heritage of the Ariyapala Mask Museum, embarking on a whale watching adventure, or celebrating Vesak under the stars, Ambalangoda offers a unique blend of experiences that capture the essence of Sri Lanka. Despite the weather, the warmth and hospitality of the people ensure a memorable weekend filled with light and culture.
