Nestled along the Tâmega River, Amarante is known for its picturesque architecture and scenic views. Here, we can explore the historic São Gonçalo Church and Bridge, iconic landmarks of the town. Walking through the cobbled streets, enjoying local pastries, and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere make Amarante a hidden gem in northern Portugal.
• Pinhao - Upon arriving in Pinhão, we’ll have the chance to embark on a scenic boat cruise through majestic mountains, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Located in the heart of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Pinhão is famous for its stunning vineyards that produce the renowned Port wine. During the cruise, we can admire the terraced hillsides and picturesque riverbanks. This stop offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
• Pinhao - After the boat cruise, we’ll enjoy a delightful traditional Portuguese lunch in Pinhão. Savor the rich flavors of regional cuisine, featuring fresh ingredients and time-honored recipes passed down through generations. Paired with locally produced wines, this meal is not just a feast for the senses but also a celebration of Portugal’s culinary heritage.
• Quinta do Jalloto - Here, we’ll explore one of the region’s finest vineyards, where a tasting of white, red, and port wines awaits, along with honey and local olives, offering the best view of the Douro Valley. Additionally, a guided tour will provide insight into the wine-making process.
• Pinhao Railway Station - Surrounded by towering mountains, our journey continues with the possibility of an unforgettable train ride along the scenic route to Peso da Régua. Please note that this experience depends on the availability of train schedules. However, if the train journey is not feasible, rest assured that we will still make our way to Peso da Régua together, ensuring you don’t miss any of the enchanting sights along the way.
