Amazing Day Out! - We chanced upon a shop selling this tour, having already planned to go on another similar tour. This tour appealed to us, because it was a small group. A maximum of 6. Unlike the group tour the minibus picked us up at the hotel. The driver, Manuel, speaks French. The guide, Hugo, speaks good English. Both of them were very helpful, courteous, & friendly. The trip exceeded my expectations! Lunch was in a beautiful restaurant & we were lucky enough to be the only people on the afternoon boat trip. If I’m able to edit this, I’ll add some photos later. Ruana and Manuel were a... - Ruana and Manuel were a great team. Ruana made the Douro Valley come to life. Very high energy, eager to share her knowledge, and charming. The tour was a good mix of scenic, port wine info and tastings, and food. The restaurant and its patrons provided a homestyle environment and good food. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic private 3-day tour of the Douro Valley - Great food, luxe lodgings with port and wine tastings in the Douro Valley. We walked into the shop of Marie and Manuel, and spoke in English with Luana Soares about what we wanted, i.e., a short multi-day tour of the Douro Valley with wine and port tastings - at certain producers if possible. Between the three of them, Espada Douro designed a custom 3-day, 2-night tour and made all the reservations so we could start at 9am the very next day. Very much worth the value. Manuel is an expert driver who knows the Valley's roads and restaurants; we stayed one night in a chic, well-appointed wine producer's inn where Sarah took charge of our tour, wine tasting, dining, and breakfast in English. The following night, Espada had chosen a stunning modern hotel with incredible views and amenities. Throughout, Luana served as guide and coordinator, making sure we were on schedule but had time to relax. She is engaging and informative, speaks English, French, and Portuguese and was cheerful about making extra calls to try to schedule visits we requested. The local guides, boat tour staff, and wine producers provided the facts and figures, while Espada thought of everything else - including a shiny black Mercedes van stocked with cold water, rain coats and umbrellas!
