Absolutely amazing! This... - Absolutely amazing! This was a true cultural experience. We were able to go to a local village and meet the families that lived there. They showed us their way of life and even cooked us a wonderful lunch. Our guide Micheal and Driver Larry went out of there way to make sure we had a good experience. Highly recommend this excursion.

Authentic experience - I had informed the company that I would be bringing a wheelchair, but unfortunately there was no space in the minibus for it and so it had to be dismantled at each stop which inconvenience other passengers. The trip was good, a long trip over very bumpy roads to the village. We were shown areas where the clan leaders used to meet, hike they cooked and built houses. There were a few in native dress but I felt that this was more authentic of how people are actually living today. Not a real “lunch” but some food. We went to the market and as we knew where the memorial was we chose to walk back to our cruise ship. The guide waited to ensure that we got back safely.

Know Before You Go And Be Prepared!! - This is a third world country. Roads are bad, toilet facilities are nonexistent, our van was not equipped with a/c. We have been on many excursions like this one so we kinda knew what to expect and it lived up to our expectations. This is NOT for the handicapped. One lady in her wheelchair found that out. Be prepared to be underwhelmed. That said, the guides were adequate. The tour of the village was great! We could have easily spent more time there interacting with the children and adults. One young girl, Ruth, was about our granddaughter’s age and was so full of life. She spoke English quite well as did the other children and adults. My wife showed her pictures of our grandchildren who live in Amsterdam. She was really intrigued and asked many questions about their lives. The market is to be avoided, dirty and crowded. The historical “drive by” of the first invasion of the Japanese was a sign that was not visible due to overgrowth of small banana trees. Another historical place was nothing more than reading signs and very little time to do that. I read about a third of the signs before we were instructed to return to the van.

Loved the people not so much the tour - Was about what I expected The guide Ben was very knowledgeable. The village experience was nice. Children were very friendly. It was extremely hot waiting in the bus for the tour to start. The rest of the tour after the village was too quick with very little content.
