• Alexandria - At 7 am, the journey to Alexandria begins with an Egyptologist. Depending on availability, the guide may meet at the first site in Alexandria. Known as the “Bride of the Mediterranean,” Alexandria is approximately 220 KM from Cairo. Founded by King Alexander the Great in 331 BC, the city quickly flourished, replacing the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis, and marking the start of the Greek era in Egypt. • Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa - The first stop in Alexandria is the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, where you will spend an hour with your Egyptologist. This site is one of Egypt’s largest and most significant burial grounds and was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World during the Middle Ages. The Catacombs feature an ancient circular staircase leading to tombs carved into the bedrock during the Antonine emperors’ era.
• Fort Qaitbey - The tour continues with a visit to Fort Qaitbey, named after Sultan Ashraf Qaitbay, who aimed to protect Alexandria from the Ottoman Empire’s threats. The citadel is a top attraction in Alexandria due to its historical significance and strategic location.
• Bibliotheca Alexandrina - Next, visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a major library and cultural center on the Mediterranean Sea. Afterward, the journey back to the original pick-up location in Cairo begins.
• Ancient Roman Amphitheater - The Roman Amphitheatre, located at the center of the Kom ELdikka archaeological site, features white-marble seating with a capacity of 600 seats.
• Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi - Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi passed away in 1286 and was interred here. The mosque was initially constructed in 1307. Its current design, influenced by Old Cairo’s architecture, was created by Eugenio Valzania and Mario Rossi between 1929 and 1945. Following this visit, the journey back to Cairo commences.
