Alexandria Library - The Alexandria Library was Amazing. They were so many beautiful pieces and pictures that you could not take pictures of them. The Citadel castle was interesting also. Tamar, my driver was very good.He got me to Alexandria and back to hotel safely. Shema, my tour guide was very knowledgeable about all of the places I visited.

Great Introduction and Orientation to Alexandria and it's Middle Ages History in a Day! - Fun and educational-filled full day that gives you an insight into the essence of Alexandria's middle ages history in a single-day. Leaving Cairo at 07h00 and back by 18h00, it is not a jolly, but a full-on history excursion, but very satisfying! Our guide, Ehab, with an archeology degree and a polyglot (converses in most tourist languages), is a passionate historian, very agreeable and was always eager to tend to our every curiosity. After a comfortable 2.5 - 3.0 hour drive, we toured the 2nd century catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the Citadel of Qaitbay and the Great Library of Alexandria (very briefly), passing by Pompey's Pillar for Roman Emperor Diocletian, one of the largest monolithic pillars ever built at 27m and the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque (Covid restrictions prevented visitors entering), housing the tomb of a 13th century Murcian Andalusi Sufi saint. There is the option to have seafood luncheon overlooking the Mediterranean, but we simply ran out of time. In hindsight we should have focused on fewer sites, (perhaps skipped Qaitbay and visit the Cairo Citadel on another day instead).

Great visit to start learning about Egypt - Great 1 day experience from Cairo. The city is not the best however is good to start. The most impressive is the library so you cannot miss it. Driver and guide were very good and on time.
