The Matanuska Glacier holds the title of the most colossal and impressive glacier in Alaska that can be reached by road. Our journey takes us as close as approximately half a mile to the glacier’s face, marking the beginning of our trek. We will venture on the glacier for a period ranging from one and a half to two hours, covering a distance of around 2 miles. There is minimal change in altitude, and the level of hiking challenge is categorized as moderate.
The glacier is approximately a two-hour drive from Anchorage. A scheduled stop halfway offers a chance for a restroom break, and you can avail of this break to grab coffee and snacks. Included in the trip is lunch consisting of sandwiches and bottled water, which will be consumed once we have exited the glacier.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
