No matter how tired you are, DO NOT cancel your tour with Denali Photo Guides - After sharing a Denali tour bus with 30? 40? other tourists for 8 hours (in Maine we lovingly call them flatlanders or people from away), the husband L and I were tempted to cancel our same day Denali Photo Excursion for, even though the bus had done most of the work, we were exhausted. Boy, was that a close call because our time with professional photographer and guide Joshua Meredith was an absolute highlight of our time in beautiful Denali. LIMIT OF 4!!! Count 'em...4! clients per tour. Outstanding experience! Joshua took us to some if his favorite out of the way scenic spots. Everywhere you look in Denali Park you see plenty of beautiful scenery but not everyone sees the views he shared with us. There was plenty personal instruction and Joshua shared tips on how to get better pics from our lowly cell cameras. These tours are geared to all levels of photography ( photographic?) abilities. Bring your best and favorite equipment and he'll work with you. If Joshua should ever read this, we want him to know how much his time spent with us meant to us. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 for Denali Photo Guides

Reawakening the Photographer - Jack Lee was our guide for the Colors of Denali Sunset excursion. Jack was patient and knowledgeable. He explained how to get a better picture, both composition wise and by using different settings on my camera and phone. He was really excited to share his photography knowledge and did it in a friendly mentoring role. Even though it was overcast, I got some great pictures, that I've gotten compliments on. I haven't done a whole lot of photography the last couple of years but this experience has rekindled the urge to pick up the camera again and explore my world through the camera lens.

Outstanding adventure - This was one of the best excursions we have taken. John Robertson was our guide. He took us to places of amazing beauty and had us take own photographs. Then he would review and make suggestions on how to make it better. There was no pressure on time. The next place was even more amazing. Our late teenage grandchildren were very impress and learned a lot about photography.

Even beginners can learn to take great photos! - We went on the Denali Photo Excursion with Josh Meredith during our Alaska vacation. It was an amazing experience that we would highly recommend. None of us are professional photographers but Josh imparted many things that we were able to take advantage of throughout the remainder of our trip and beyond for improving the quality of our photos. We all only had iPhones, but Josh helped us understand how we could still get great shots even from our phones. Josh took us to several places off the beaten track that we would never have seen otherwise. Highly recommend this excursion!

Hope to do this again! - Our 3 hours with guide, Jack Lee, was time very well spent! Even though we had been on the Denali Tundra Wilderness bus tour the day prior, Jack drove us to locations outside the park which were exquisite and different than what we'd seen prior. His photography tips were very useful, and I have been utilizing them at every opportunity. We definitely will book another tour when we are in the area.

A Great Experience - I had a fantastic evening photo excursion with our guide Jack Lee. There were four of us along with Jack. He was friendly and helpful, and he took us to a couple beautiful places off the beaten path in Denali. His tour was a memorable capstone to a magical trip to Denali Park.

Highlight of our Alaska Trip - This was the highlight of our 12 days in Alaska. What a fun 1/2 day and Paul was great! He started by asking each of us what we liked or wanted to photograph and then took us to places where we could take pictures to our heart's desire. I wanted to photograph moose - he knew where to find them. He also helped us with how to use our phone, best place to stand for the picture and other tips. Laid back tour focused on what each of the 4 people on the tour wanted to see. Highly recommend this group. It would have been a fun experience even if you didn't take a single picture.

Do not hesitate. Highly Recommend! - If you have a choice to do the Midnight Sun (especially fantastic) or ANY tour with Denali Photo Guides, do not miss out. We spent three weeks in Alaska in the summer of '25 and this tour was at the top of my favorite memories. In fact, I went twice. I went Midnight Sun, solo, and the light was amazing. Boom was a laid back, no pressure guide, who showed us some fantastic spots. It was fun to get off the beaten path with such a small group (only 4!) and be able to ask questions without reservation. This trip is for everyone, the most inexperienced to the pros. I have to also mention that I went on a second Denali Photo Guides outing trip with my mom (who is 81). Jack Lee took such good care of us (and her). He taught me so much, and really included my mom at the level she was able to participate. It was one of her absolute favorite memories, too. We really felt like our Denali Photo Guide trips were the best of the trip in terms of care, service, sharing photo knowledge (so incredibly generous) and seeing wild places. We loved your stories and helpful tips that I am still using daily. Thanks, Jack and Boom for these wonderful memories. Do not hesitate. This is money well invested, and I highly recommend that you book with Denali Photo Guides. It is a super well run outfit.

The mountain was not out and no wildlife to photograph. - It was advertised that cameras were available for rent and tripods were also available. My camera had not charged sufficiently but no offer was made to use a different camera. In all fairness, I had not asked. The tour guide gave me a quick lesson on taking photos with my cell phone and editing my photos. I went with this tour because I assumed the guide would be able to take us to see wildlife if the mountain was covered in clouds, which it was. We drove around for 3 hours with only two photo stops to take landscape photos. No wildlife was spotted. $400 was a lot of money to spend for a few landscape photos. Since we saw no wildlife on our excursion, I guess the use of a tripod was a moot point. When we got back, another lady staying at our hotel showed me photos she had taken the same morning of Mount McKinley taken inside the park. This tour uses public roads outside of the park. It was disappointing to learn that I could have photographed to mountain had we gone to the park, instead. The guide was friendly and tried to spot wildlife. It was disappointing that nothing appeared. We did a morning excursion hoping for wildlife activity. Perhaps the excursion should depart earlier than 8:00 AM.
