we learned a lot about the dogs and the history of dog sledding, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind.
Very informative - expectation was that we would learn to sled which wasnt the case
Would have preferred a longer sled ride
Enjoyed listening to Rowan and all th information he shared. However, my personal waterproof gloves were not insulated and as I was standing behind Rowan for the majority of the 45 minute ride, my hands/fingers were very uncomfortable. I would suggest that you provide gloves for the people taking your sled ride. That would have made a world of difference for me.
The viewing of video prior to dog sled ride was really cool, facilities and coffee - water - cookies really were nice. Musher John was very good.
the conduct of everyone we met, including the owners Martin and his wife. Thank you so much!!!
It was an awesome trip, I'm so glad we did it! James was a fantastic guide and we loved the pups!
The actual dog sledding expierence was awesome. Loved the trails did think the sled we had was not as nice as the others we saw -it was a little wierd sitting on a kitchen chair cushion. I also didn’t expect my husband to be standing behind the musher-he was ok with it but think it should be communicated that is how it was. Speaking of communication-really should have advised that a race was going on and told us how to connect with the person in charge of the dog sledding. The lady behind the desk was with the race and didn’t know who we should talk to-we basically stood around trying to figure it out. You definitely did not make us feel welcome. I will always recommend doing the event as we loved it but not sure if there are other people who do it they might look at them or make sure there is a person’s name to contact.
James, our dog sled leader, was kind, knowledgeable and so willing to answer any questions we had. The school provides clothing, boots, hats, mittens, hand warmers, etc. The property is absolutely beautiful!!! This was a magnificent experience!!
Our guide James was very knowledgeable and had done the Ididerod! A fabulous experience that shouldn’t be missed
It was a lot of fun, but to short in time.
Well, wow! And bow wow! Our family came to Anchorage to spend Christmas with our son Lane who arranged this delightful outing for us. Because we are Oregonians where the winters are mild, we were somewhat apprehensive about going to Alaska in this season. But not to worry: adding to our own preparation, Martin Buser's Mushing School included using the high tech clothing they provide, even down to the boots enabling us to absolutely enjoy a dog sled ride in 12 degree F weather! James and the dogs, the glory of snow and sky ~ what a highlight to our beautiful Christmas week vacation. It's inspiring to witness the love and care these dogs are given and their loud, fun requests "CHOOSE ME! CHOOSE ME!" They want to work, they are happy to serve and concentrate carefully, working together masterfully pulling our sleds. I enthusiastically encourage families and even other oldsters (we're 72) to consider putting your heart, time and investment into this awesome memory maker! KB, Cottage Grove, Oregon
Very enjoyable. The dogs were delightful and the instructors were very helpful.
We had a beautiful day and Sean took my family of 4 from New Zealand it was the highlight of their trip to Alaska. Highly recommend this to anyone that wants a real Alaska experience.
Staffs were nice and friendly, and loved the dogs. Just wished I was on the second sled and couldn’t really see the dogs when they were running.
This was my second visit to Alaska Mushing School and it was as incredible as the first one! James is warm & professional, and made every effort to see that our experience was great. I cannot recommened them strongly enough. One of the best experiences I've had in Alaska.
The view and experience was great! I wish they would have told us more about their dogs.
Matt was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My kids enjoyed this experience, left us all wanting an Alaskan dog pup!
James took care of the 3 of us and took us on an awesome dogsled ride. He introduced us to the dogs first and we spent some time getting to know them and then, on with the ride. James if very professional and wants to make sure each person gets a true "musher" experience. We were all super happy to have gone on an exciting dogsled ride and it was a highlight of our trip!
It was such a nice day out and all the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Our musher was so friendly and thoughtful and the dogs were so cool. This was an awesome experience and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Alaska :)

I paid for two people but we only had one Alex. That really limited the experience.
Such a good day at Happy Trails. I loved the dogs they were so friendly and excited to run, the dogs were so happy you can't help but be happy on your ride. The movie was very informative prior to the run. James our musher was friendly, helpful (pulled me out of the basket) and knowledgeable. Still amazed at how truly happy those dogs were! I am so excited to be your lower 48 cheerleader during and after the Iditarod!
We had an absolutely wonderful day with Happy Trails Kennel. When we arrived we were greeted by Martin Buser as he departed on a 60 mile sled run in prep for the upcoming Iditarod. We loved that we were not rushed at all and we were able to meet and pet all the dogs. We then went out on a 5 mile ride across Big Lake. Our tour guide was awesome, he explained so much about running the dogs and stopped to let us take pictures on the trail. Upon returning we watched a great movie about Martin, his kennel and the Iditarod while enjoying hot chocolate. Finally, our guide brought us a 3 week old puppy to meet before ending our day. It was absolutely perfect!!
Excellent and superlative...two words I would use to describe the folks who run this place and the experience. Sean and Roan...you guys are the best and made this experience one of the most wonderful experiences for all of us. We started missing your wonderful sled dogs almost the moment we left your property. Thank you for a once in a lifetime experience and for making our Alaska vacation extra special.
