• Alajuela - As the journey up the mountain begins, a noticeable shift in temperature and vegetation can be observed. • Poas Volcano National Park - Following the coffee tour, the adventure continues to Poas Volcano National Park, where the temperature changes and the lush vegetation of the cloud forest becomes apparent.

The Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano standing at 2,708 meters (8,885 feet). Its crater spans over a mile across and is 1,050 feet deep. Since 1828, it has erupted 40 times, including in April 2017.

At the volcano, there is time to admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles and hike a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon, learning about the park’s diverse ecosystems along the way.
