Kizil Grottoes, located on a hill by the Weigan River, is one of China’s most famous grottoes. Its history dates back to the 3rd century, and it was abandoned between the 8th and 9th centuries. There are around 80 caves and 10,000 square meters of frescoes preserved here. Visitors will climb to explore the caves, which feature colorful paintings and frescoes in a rectangular shape, depicting numerous Jataka tales about Buddha.
