A Lovely Day In Addis Ababa - I arrived in Addis Ababa on April 17, 2026 and scheduled the Addis Ababa Food and Addis Ababa Nightlife tour the day following my arrival. Abi and Mahlet took me to sample the delicious bites Addis Ababa had to offer and patiently and thoroughly answered my questions regarding Ethiopian cuisine. In the evening, Yuhn took me to a cultural dance show while explaining the various alcoholic beverages that are a fundamental aspects of Ethiopian culture. Liyu tours is a family run tour agency and they made me feel like part of the family and their sense of welcome to Addis Ababa made the day in Addis Ababa such a wonderful and pleasant experience. If you want to experience Addis Ababa like a local, book with Liyu Tours. Thank you Abi, Mahlet and Yuhn!

Great intro to local food - We had a great tour with Mahlet and Abraham. We tried to make Injera - and discovered we were terrible at it! Eating the raw meat and watching it butchered was definitely a different culture. We enjoyed drinking Tella and watching it being made in the back room and the tasting of tequila. In addition to the food it was an insight in to the local culture with our chats with our driver and guide.

Great experience in Addis - We had a great food tour with Oli and would definitely recommend him if you want a real introduction to Ethiopian food and culture. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made everything feel easy and relaxed, even when we were trying things for the first time. We started with a traditional coffee ceremony and then tried a mix of local dishes, including beyaynetu, shekla tibs, and tire siga. Oli took us to places we never would have found on our own and explained what everything was and how to eat it. The experience felt authentic, not touristy, and we left very full and happy. Highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Addis.

Amazing food tour - We really enjoyed this tour. We stopped at several places and the food was amazing. Our tour guides Abreham and Mahlet were the best. They were great at explaining the culture of Ethiopia. I will definitely schedule more tours with them.

Come hungry and leave full of food, drinks, and newfound knowledge - Oli and Abraham were fantastic. They are both extremely knowledgeable, not just about what you do and eat but also about the culture and history of the country. Even just driving to our locations, I got a city tour, and then while we ate and walked around I was able to ask all kinds of questions and get thorough, articulate answers. I laughed, learned, ate great food, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I’d highly recommend this experience for anyone who is interested in getting to taste highlights in an off-the-beaten-path kind of way.

Great tour but more booze than food - This was a great food tour — I really wanted to try tire siga (raw meat), and this was one of the only food tours that offered that. The tire siga did not disappoint, and it was my favorite food that I ate all trip! The tibs we had at the butcher shop was also really good. That was the only restaurant we went to though, and the rest of the tour was more about drinks (the tella was really interesting). I wish we had gotten more food during the tour (from reading other reviews it seems everyone else got to go to several other spots that I wasn’t taken to), but I still really enjoyed it!
