• National Museum of Ethiopia - Begin the city tour of Addis Ababa at the National Museum of Ethiopia, renowned for its exceptional quality and diverse exhibits. Among its archaeological treasures is the 3.5-million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning ‘thou art wonderful’ in the local language), a hominid woman of the Australopithecus Afarensis species. Lucy’s discovery in 1974 revolutionized our understanding of human ancestry, revealing that our forebears walked the earth 2.5 million years earlier than previously believed. The museum also showcases remarkable artifacts from the pre-Axumite civilization.
