As visitors traverse the Sululta Plain, they can explore the Oromo people’s roundhouse to gain insight into local life. - Portuguese Bridge - The Jemma River, a tributary of the Nile, flows through a valley with an impressive drop of nearly 1000 meters. In this gorge and the surrounding forest near the church, visitors can expect to see the Banded Barbet, Black-headed Forest Oriole, White-billed Starling, Red-billed Starling, White-winged Cliff Chat, White-backed Black Tit, White-cheeked Turaco, and Hemprich’s Hornbill. Additionally, one of Ethiopia’s endemic mammals, the Gelada or bleeding heart baboon, can be observed. The gorge is also home to various vultures, including Lamergeyer’s, Ruppell’s, and Lappet-faced vultures.

Upon reaching Debre Libanos, our first destination will be the Jemma Gorge. One of the Nile’s tributaries, the Jemma River descends to a valley that is almost a thousand meters below the surface. We may anticipate to observe the Black-headed woodland Oriole, the Red-billed Starling, the White-billed Starling, and the Banded Barbet here in the gorge as well as in the surrounding woodland.
