Addis Ababa - Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be picked up and enjoy breakfast before starting a city tour. The tour includes visits to the National Museum (home of Lucy), Mercato, the historic Piazza (Piassa), St. George’s Churches, Mount Entoto (Menelik’s Palace), and the Ethnographic Museum. If time permits, there will be a walk to experience a traditional coffee ceremony.
Addis-Semera-Erta Ale
Erta Ale - Board flight ET-110 from Addis Ababa to Semera, arriving at 8:20 AM. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our driver and guide, who will take you to Erta Ale via Afdera Town, covering 168 km in approximately 3.5 hours. After a one-hour lunch break, continue to the Erta Ale campsite, arriving around 4:30 PM. After a short rest, embark on a one-hour hike to the active volcano, spending 1.5 to 2 hours exploring before returning to the campsite, which takes another 45 minutes to an hour. A freshly prepared dinner will be ready upon your return.
Erta Ale-Lake Assale-Hamed Ela
Dallol - Rise at 5 AM for a one-hour trek to the active volcano to witness the sunrise, spending about an hour and a half exploring before returning to the campsite. After breakfast, depart around 10 AM for Hamed Ela, a 70 km journey taking about three hours. After a break until 4:30 PM, drive for an hour to Lake Assale to enjoy the sunset, spending two hours at the lake before returning to the Hamed Ela campsite, where a fresh dinner awaits. Overnight camping is arranged.
Hamed Ela-Dallol-Mekele
Danakil Depression - Rise early at 5 AM for a drive to Dallol, famous for its unique salt formations, vibrant sulfur deposits, colorful salt flats, hot springs, and salt canyons, also known as salt mountains. The drive takes over an hour, followed by a 30-minute trek to explore the area. Spend about two hours walking through the landscape before returning to the vehicle for a 30-minute ride back. After breakfast, proceed to Mekele.
Mekele-Abune Yemata-Addis
Abuna Yemata Guh Church - Depart from Mekelle to Hawzen, leading to the remarkable Abune Yemata Guh. A guided hike and rock climb allow exploration of the stunning 5th–6th century cliff-top church, adorned with ancient fresco paintings and offering breathtaking views of the Gheralta landscape, lasting approximately 2–3 hours. After this adventure, enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant in either Hawzen or Wukro, followed by a visit to Wukro Chirkos, one of the oldest rock-hewn churches in Tigray, celebrated for its Aksumite-style architecture and historical significance. Return to Mekelle by 10:30 to catch flight ET-191 to Addis, departing at 18:20.
Addis -Lalibela
Lalibela - Take flight ET-120 to Lalibela, where your driver and guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. After checking in, explore the renowned rock-hewn churches, often referred to as the 8th wonder of the world, starting with the Northern Cluster. Visit Bete Medhane Alem, the largest monolithic church globally, followed by Bete Maryam, known for its stunning ceiling paintings, and other notable churches including Bete Meskel, Bete Denagel, and Bete Golgotha Mikael. After a day of exploration, spend the night at either Hiltop Resort or similar accommodation.
Lalibela-Addis
Lalibela - Continue the tour with the Southern Cluster churches, visiting Bete Amanuel, recognized for its Aksumite architectural style, along with Bete Gabriel-Rufael, Bete Merkorios, and Bete Abba Libanos, concluding with the iconic Bete Giyorgis, the famous cross-shaped church symbolizing Lalibela, before catching flight ET-121 back to Addis.
Addis-Jinka
Turmi - Fly to Jinka in the afternoon. Meet your guide and driver, then head straight to Turmi in the southeastern part of Omo, home to the Hamer people. The Hamers are known for their striking appearance, with both men and women taking pride in their grooming and adornments. Visit a local Hamer village and spend the day immersing yourself in their culture. Stay overnight at Buska Lodge.

Turmi - Early morning after breakfast, proceed to Omorate, home of the Dassanech tribe, who settled at the last border near where the Omo River enters Lake Turkana in Kenya. Upon arrival in Omorate, take a local wooden boat to cross the majestic Omo River and meet people at one of their local villages. After the Dassanech visit, drive back to Turmi until midday. After lunch in Turmi, continue driving to Dimeka to visit one of the second largest weekly markets in the area, where two interesting tribes (Hamer and Kara) will show up together with their goods. Note that most of the weekly markets in the Omo Valley are not only places to buy and sell but are more like weekly social events where tribal people exchange news and offer and receive invitations for ceremonies. You will have an amazing experience at the market. Furthermore, if there is any ceremony like bull jumping, it will be seen. Overnight at Buska Lodge.
Turmi-Karo-Jinka
Jinka - Today, early in the morning, drive to Kara village. The Kara tribe is among the smallest tribes in the area, numbering only 3000 people. They settled on the west bank of the Omo River and are known for their mastery of body painting for beautification. Today, meet these authentic people at one of their second biggest villages called Dus, one of the furthest villages not often visited by tourists and the most important place for the entire Kara people. Spend some time with the Kara people. Afterward, drive back to Jinka. Before reaching Jinka, attend one of the biggest and most colorful weekly tribal markets at the village called Alduba, where more than three different tribal groups gather for various reasons. Overnight at Nasa Hotel.
Jinka-Mursi-Addis
Mursi Village - From Jinka, drive 40 km one way to meet the Mursi people and return to Jinka. The Mursi are a nomadic tribe living between Mago Park and Keyafer town. Mursi women are known for wearing lip plates on their bottom lips. Finally, you will be dropped off at Jinka Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa.

The region is also home to tribes such as the Hamar, Mursi, Karo, and Tsemay, who participate in lively weekly markets like Key Afer and Turmi.
