• Melka Kunture - Melka Kunture stands as one of Ethiopia’s most important prehistoric locations. • Tiya World Heritage Site - Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1972, this location remained untouched for centuries until several stone Stelae were discovered at the beginning of the last century.

Subsequent discoveries have been made over the years, revealing over 40 monuments, with many more still concealed. This site holds the largest and most representative collection of such monoliths in Africa, yet surprisingly little is known about them beyond their size and description. Small stone carvings around the tooth-shaped stones depict the challenges faced by those buried beneath.

Many of these stones are adorned with engravings depicting brutal battles, times of famine, and significant hardships, hinting at the destinies of those interred below.
