• National Museum of Ethiopia - Begin the city tour of Addis Ababa at the National Museum of Ethiopia, renowned for its exceptional quality and diverse exhibits. Among its archaeological treasures is the 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning ‘thou art wonderful’ in the local language), a hominoid woman of the Australopithecus Afarensis species. Lucy’s discovery in 1974 revolutionized our understanding of human ancestry, revealing that our forebears walked the earth 2.5 million years earlier than previously thought. The museum also showcases remarkable artifacts from the pre-Axumite civilization.

• Mount Entoto - The tour continues with a drive uphill to Entoto, once the permanent camp of Emperor Minilik II. The ascent offers a significant drop in altitude, with the air perfumed by the eucalyptus trees that blanket the area. From the summit, enjoy a panoramic view of the capital and surrounding countryside. Please note that the entrance fee to Entoto Park is not included; entry costs 20 USD per person.
• Ethnological Museum - The tour proceeds to the Ethnological Museum, located within Addis Ababa University’s grounds. Unlike the National Museum, this museum offers an equally captivating experience with a diverse collection of artifacts and everyday objects from Ethiopia’s various ethnic groups.

• St. George’s Cathedral - The tour continues with a visit to St. George’s Cathedral, one of Addis Ababa’s oldest and most vibrant churches. Due to renovations, the cathedral is temporarily closed, so visitors will be taken to B’atta Le Mariam Church instead. Also known as the Church of St. Mary of Zion, this prominent Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church in Addis Ababa is celebrated for its striking architecture and intricate murals. It features a unique circular design and beautiful stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes. The church is a key site for religious ceremonies and festivals, attracting pilgrims and visitors alike. • Mercato Market - After lunch, the city tour of Addis Ababa continues with a visit to Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market, where nearly every imaginable commodity is available.
• Tiglachin Memorial - The Tiglachin Memorial honors Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers who participated in the Ogaden War. It was constructed under Mengistu Haile Mariam on Churchill Avenue in Addis Ababa.
