Accra (Art Tour & Akweley Suma)
Accra - Begin the day with a contemporary Art and Design tour of Accra, including visits to the Artists Alliance Art Gallery, Nubuke Foundation, and The Shop Accra. In the afternoon, observe the Akweley Suma activities in preparation for the upcoming twin festival.
Accra Shopping & Twin Festival
Accra - Start the day with a visit to the vibrant and colorful Makola Market. Continue to Accra’s Oxford Street to explore textile shops. After lunch, visit the Ga Mashie Palace to participate in the Twin Festival activities, celebrating the double blessing from God.
Accra (Homowo & Chale Wote)
Independence Square - Begin the day with a drive past Independence Square. Proceed to the Arts Centre for National Culture, Ghana’s largest craft market. There is a great opportunity to discover old antiques by exploring the deeper parts of the crafts market. Join the celebrations of the Homowo and Chale Wote festivals in Accra. Witness the preparation of the traditional Kpoikpoi meal, served exclusively during this festival. Enjoy dinner accompanied by a live band performance.
Accra - Kumasi
Kumasi - Depart for the Ashanti Region. Upon arrival, visit the Ashanti Traditional Buildings. Continue to the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom. Conclude the day at the Kumasi Cultural Centre, which provides a comprehensive account of Ghanaian culture and showcases the Ashanti Kingdom’s illustrious past. It houses the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, offering a captivating collection of Asante history.
Kumasi Crafts Tour
Kumasi - Begin the day with a visit to the textile section of Kejetia Market, the largest open-air market in West Africa. Visit the village of Ampabame Krofrom, where bronze smiths still create art using the lost wax method. Continue with brief stops at the craft villages of Ntonso, known for adinkra design, and Ahwiaa, famous for carving. Also, visit the village of Adanwomase (Kente) to interact with locals and learn about the craft’s art and history.
Kumasi – Elmina (Slave River)
Assin Manso - Depart for the Central Region with a visit to Assin Manso, the site of a Slave River. Upon arrival, visit Elmina Castle for insights into the history of slavery. Stroll through the ancient town of Elmina to view colonial-style homes and experience the Fanti lifestyle. This includes visits to the fish market and the Asafo Shrines, where warriors prepared mentally and spiritually before going to war.
Cape Coast
Cape Coast Castle - Participate in a naming ceremony, receiving a traditional African name amidst traditional drumming and dancing by the villagers. Continue to Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its West African Historical Museum. After lunch, join a head wrapping, bead making, or drum & dance workshop.
