Engage in a traditional naming ceremony to fully experience Ghanaian culture. This meaningful event is particularly important for individuals from the African American and Caribbean diasporas, as it provides an opportunity to reconnect with their heritage and ancestors in a rural Ghanaian village or a community in Accra.
Participants will discover their birth identity through rituals, learning the day they were born, known as their “Soul Name,” and receiving a local name from the community, complete with its meaning. The ceremony will feature traditional drumming and dancing.
As part of the celebration, participants will receive a gift from the community, which may include beads or a Ghana Kente Stole with “Welcome to Ghana” beautifully inscribed on it, along with a certificate of recognition.
The ceremony will be led by a respected elder, renowned for their strong moral character within the community. This is a wonderful opportunity to join and build connections with a community in Ghana. Welcome back to your roots!
