Accra - Arrive in Accra, Ghana, where Landtours representatives will greet you at the airport’s arrival hall. They will hold a sign with the lead traveler’s name and assist with your transfer to the hotel. Later, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, indulging in authentic Ghanaian cuisine.

ACCRA CITY TOUR - Afrofuture Day 1

Accra - Embark on a sightseeing tour of Accra, the capital of Ghana. This orientation tour will highlight the city’s key attractions. Accra has been the capital since 1877 and is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region.

Independence Square - Visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture and Independence/Black Star Square. Discover significant events in Ghana’s history and learn about the country’s first president, who played a pivotal role in gaining independence.

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - Continue to The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, honoring Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, and his contributions to African independence. The tour includes visits to Nkrumah’s mausoleum and a museum showcasing his life.

DAY AT LEISURE – CONTINUATION OF AFROFUTURE

Accra Mall - After breakfast, enjoy a day of leisure at your own pace. In the evening, attend the second day of the Afrofuture festival. Overnight at Urbano Hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

ACCRA – SLAVE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE

Elmina Castle - ACCRA – SLAVE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE (ELMINA CASTLE) (APPROX. 6 HOURS DRIVE TIME & TOURING)
After breakfast, check out and travel to Elmina. Upon arrival, explore Elmina Castle, also known as St. George’s Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482. Learn about the interactions between western slave traders and African tribes involved in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Witness the cramped and oppressive dungeons where locals were held before enduring the perilous journey across the Atlantic. This experience serves as a poignant reminder of the slave trade’s inhumanity. Overnight at AnoMansa Beach Resort. Meals Included: Breakfast.

Kakum National Park and Cape Coast Castle

Kakum National Park - Discover Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s remaining tropical rainforests. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through the rainforest to explore its diverse flora and fauna, including their medicinal properties, or take a walk on the canopy walkway suspended 40 meters above the forest floor.

Cape Coast Castle - Visit Cape Coast Castle, constructed by the Swedes in 1653, to learn about the harrowing conditions enslaved Africans faced during their journey to the New World in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Walk through the Door of No Return, stand in the slave dungeons, and travel back in time.
