Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, also known as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park (KNMP), is the final resting place of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
It is dedicated to his remarkable campaign to liberate Ghana (then Gold Coast) from colonial rule on 6th March 1957.
Black Star Gate - In 1957, the Ghanaian politician and revolutionary leader Kwame Nkrumah led the Gold Coast, now Ghana, to its independence from Britain.
Nkrumah became the first prime minister and president of Ghana, and to celebrate the nation’s newfound autonomy, he commissioned the construction of a grand public square.
Conclude the day’s activities and return to the hotel for a relaxing evening.
VILLAGE NAMING CEREMONY
Torgorme Community - After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to a picturesque village located on the lower course of the magnificent Volta River.
Experience a traditional naming ceremony, a cornerstone of Ghanaian cultural heritage. Participate in the ceremony, receive a traditional African name, and be welcomed into the local community by the chiefs and townspeople. Enjoy authentic traditional drumming and dancing during the ceremony. Other activities include a pottery-making demonstration, the main occupation of the village women.
KAKUM NATIONAL PARK & CAPE COAST CASTLE
Kakum National Park - After breakfast, depart early for a drive to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s remaining tropical rainforests.
The most popular attraction is the Canopy Walkway, consisting of seven bridges extending 330m, hanging 30m (100 feet) above the forest floor.
Enjoy a 2 km nature walk through this forest to discover a wide variety of exotic floral species and their medicinal values.
Cape Coast Castle - Later, visit the Cape Coast Castle, built by the Swedes in 1653 and later taken over by the British. Like Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a poignant memorial to the millions of Africans who were victims of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.
This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum, established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government in 1994.
ELMINA CASTLE & ELMINA FISHING VILLAGE WALKING TOUR
Elmina Castle - After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for Cape Coast to tour Elmina Castle (also known as St. George’s Castle), built by the Portuguese in 1482. Designated as an official UN World Heritage Site, Elmina Castle is a significant symbol of the traumatic history of the Trans–Atlantic slave trade.
Tour the castle and learn how the legacy of the slave trade has shaped Africans and the African Diaspora for generations.

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - Travel from Elmina to Assin Manso, the site of “Donkor Nsuo,” a riverbank that served as a slave market and final transit point for many enslaved Africans during the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade. This is the final resting place for two ancestors whose remains were returned from the USA and Jamaica and reinterred there.
Manhyia Palace Museum - Continue your journey from Assin-Manso to Kumasi, where you will visit Manhyia Palace Museum to gain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. Enjoy a drive through the city with monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people.
ASHANTI CRAFT VILLAGES
Bonwire Kente Weaving Centre - This day is dedicated to visiting the three renowned Ashanti craft villages. After breakfast, depart for Ahwiaa, the woodcarvers’ village, Ntonso, the home of Adinkra cloth, and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. You will have the opportunity to see how African crafts are made and to purchase directly from the artisans who create them.
KUMASI – BESEASE SHRINE - ACCRA
Besease Traditional Shrine - After breakfast, depart for Accra. En route, visit the Besease shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and experience the ancient customs of the traditional Ashanti religion.
The Besease Shrine is a traditional fetish shrine near the town of Ejisu. Each of these shrines is a home for a particular spirit, called obosom, that mediates between mortals and the supreme god Nyame.
Observe the unique architecture and experience the mode of ancestral worship to the ancient gods.
