ACCRA – KUMASI
Kumasi - After breakfast, depart for Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. Begin your tour with a visit to the Manhyia Palace Museum, located within the Manhyia Palace grounds, the residence of the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, known as the ‘Asantehene’. The Manhyia Museum offers insights into the culture of the Ashantis and Ghana’s cultural heritage during the colonial period. Continue to the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum at the Kumasi Cultural Center. Here, you will learn more about the history of the Ashanti Kingdom. Following this captivating tour, visit the Kejetia Market, one of the largest open markets in West Africa, where you can experience the art of bargaining in a traditional African market. On the way back to the hotel, stop at the Military Museum (Kumasi Fort), which displays military equipment and artifacts from the British-Ashanti War and World War II. Afterwards, head to your hotel.
ASHANTI CULTURAL VILLAGES
Adanwomase - After breakfast, visit several villages in the Ashanti Kingdom. The first stop is Ntonso Adinkra Village, renowned for its Adinkra Symbols, which have proverbial meanings. Participate in a local textile printing workshop using these unique symbols and learn about their history. Continue to Adanwomase Kente Weaving Village, where Kente, a colorful silk and cotton fabric, is woven. This fabric is traditionally used by the Akan ethnic group of Ghana for special occasions. Participate in a kente weaving workshop and have the opportunity to purchase kente products. After lunch, travel to Ejisu Besease, a village near Ejisu Township, known in Ashanti history as the hometown of Yaa Asantewaa, the queen mother who led the fight against the British in 1900. Visit the Ashante Traditional Buildings (a UNESCO Heritage Site) and the Yaw Tano Shrine. Return to your hotel to relax after a busy day. Overnight in Kumasi.
KUMASI – ABONO VILLAGE
Lake Bosomtwe - After a restful night, begin your tour after breakfast. The first stop is the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, located on the grounds of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. Here, you will see a sword over 300 years old, planted into the ground by the famous fetish priest Okomfo Anokye. Despite numerous attempts, the sword remains immovable. This site is also where the priest conjured a golden stool for the Ashanti Kingdom. Learn more about this renowned priest during your visit. Afterwards, travel to Abono Village, home to Ghana’s only natural lake. Tour the village, visit the palace, and enjoy a cruise on the lake. Return to Kumasi to relax at the hotel, with the option to experience nightlife at a pub or mall. Overnight in Kumasi.
KUMASI – ACCRA - DEPARTURE
