• Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center - The Grand Mosque was inaugurated in December 2007, following its construction from 1994 to 2007, excluding the external landscaping and parking areas. The complex spans over 12 hectares, with dimensions of approximately 290 by 420 meters. Its main axis is aligned towards the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, with a rotation of about 12° south of true west.

The project was initiated by the late U.A.E. president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who envisioned a structure that would blend the cultural diversity of the Islamic world with both historical and contemporary architectural and artistic values. In 2004, Sheikh Zayed passed away and was laid to rest in the mosque’s courtyard.
