• Cairo - Begin your day tour with a pick-up from Cairo airport. An expert tour guide will be waiting outside the terminal at the street exit gate, holding a sign with your name. You will then be transported to the magnificent pyramids.
• Giza Plateau - The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex, located near present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one to remain largely intact. The pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx are among the most popular tourist attractions globally, and were even in Roman times. Each of these remarkable structures served as the final resting place for a king of the 4th Dynasty (c.2613–2494 BC). The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed for King Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), with the other two built for Khafre and Menkaure, his son and grandson. Khufu’s pyramid is both the oldest and largest of the three, and no building surpassed its height for another 3,800 years!
• Great Sphinx - Next, visit The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, standing by the vast funeral complex.
• Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The only completely preserved portrait of the king is a three-inch high ivory figurine discovered in a temple ruin from a later period at Abydos in 1903. All other reliefs and statues were found in fragments, and many of Khufu’s buildings are lost. Everything known about Khufu comes from inscriptions in his necropolis at Giza and later documents. For instance, Khufu is the main character noted in the Westcar Papyrus from the 13th dynasty.
• Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre, with some found in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860. Others were discovered during subsequent excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
• Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also revealed several statues of Menkaure.
• The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly known as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. It contains 120,000 items, with a representative selection on display and the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the building is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2021, the museum is set to be replaced by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
