- Pyramids of Giza - Begin your tour with a pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by a tour guide. The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex, located near modern-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one that remains largely intact.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, which is currently buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site has not yet been excavated.
- Pyramid of Menkaure - Menkaure’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, some of which were discovered in a well in the temple floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, often called the Sphinx of Giza or simply the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a human head. It faces directly from West to East and is situated on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The Sphinx’s face is generally thought to represent Pharaoh Khafre.
Carved from the bedrock, the original form of the Sphinx has been restored with layers of blocks. It measures 73 meters (240 feet) in length from paw to tail, 20 meters (66 feet) in height from the base to the top of the head, and 19 meters (62 feet) in width at its rear haunches. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and is widely believed to have been constructed by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during Pharaoh Khafre’s reign (c. 2558–2532 BC).
- Giza Plateau - The Giza Plateau (Arabic: هضبة الجيزة) is a limestone plateau in Giza, Egypt, home to the Fourth Dynasty Giza pyramid complex, which includes the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex. It forms the northernmost part of the 16,000-hectare Pyramid Fields on the Western Desert edge of the Nile Valley, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis.
The plateau is elevated approximately 60 meters above sea level.
- The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly known as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, located in Cairo, Egypt, houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. It contains 120,000 items, with a representative selection on display and the remainder in storerooms. Constructed in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani and designed by French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the building is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2020, the museum is set to be replaced by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza. The tour concludes with a drop-off at the customer’s hotel in Cairo or Giza.
