- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The only completely preserved portrait of the king is a three-inch-high ivory figurine discovered in a temple ruin from a later period at Abydos in 1903. All other reliefs and statues were found in fragments, and many of Khufu’s buildings are lost. Information about Khufu comes from inscriptions in his necropolis at Giza and later documents. For instance, Khufu is the main character mentioned in the Westcar Papyrus from the 13th dynasty.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre. Some were discovered in a well in the temple’s floor by Mariette in 1860, while others were found during subsequent excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also contained several statues of Menkaure.
- The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - Continue your day tour at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. On display is a rare collection of 5,000 years of art, the largest and most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 genuine artifacts are showcased, including an exhibit dedicated to the Tutankhamen collection of treasures, gold, and jewelry, as it was sealed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before its discovery in the 1920s during the tomb’s excavation.
