The canal boat ride was so relaxing and very educational! Thank you!!!
Great experience. Very entertaining and informative.
It was a very enjoyable tour with an energetic, informative docent. I liked the discussion on a variety of topics including history, the waterway, the vegetation, and restoration/preservation efforts. It really exceeded my expectations.
Very informative and relaxing , my 87 year old mother really enjoyed it, thank you!
Had a great time on the Canal boat. The captain was very informative & encouraged questions. I live in Kokomo, but was pleased to learn about the Rivers projects and their care. Fun Day!
The boat is beautiful and comfortable. The narration was interesting and sometimes amusing. My husband and I loved this boat ride! Jeanette DeVore
It was a very beautiful day and the boat ride was enjoyable and informative. The entire staff was helpful and professional in every way. I would recommend the Canal Boat tour to anyone that would like to know more about the rivers in Fort Wayne.
The group which happened to be on our cruise was very talkative. So, we could not hear all that the docent was sharing.
Wonderful experience to finally see Fort Wayne from a different perspective. The boat was beautiful and the entire crew very welcoming and friendly. Having just recently completed a similar Wendella boat tour of the Chicago river and lakeshore (and paying a similar price per ticket), we were however expecting a more formal presentation from the docent. While it may be somewhat unfair, it's hard for us not to compare outings. At present, the Chicago tour is a better value. We say this not to be critical of your operation but to provide a personal perspective of comparable experiences. With that said, we would still recommend you to others and we wish you all the very best and hope for a long and successful run. This is a positive development for Fort Wayne and we are fortunate to have you! If you would like to discuss this review in additional detail or have questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Our docent Pat Jones did an excellent job of describing the rivers and their function throughout the growth of our city. He also told us some fascinating historical facts, specifically relating how our area of the country was instrumental to the Indians as well as the growth of our nation. It made me long for more. There were people of all ages on the tour and everyone seemed rapt with attention. Some of the children were walking about the boat but Pat did not let that distract him. He spoke clearly and made certain everyone could hear him. Dan Jones was an excellent Captain. It was a smooth, safe ride. I understand they both grew up on the rivers and I think their knowledge made the trip safe, fun and interesting. I really liked that we were free to roam about the boat. I don't think I could have set still for 90 minutes. It was also nice for picture taking. You may want to have some books available for sale at the end of the tour for those who are interested to learn more Fort Wayne history. Also, I have taken riverboat rides all over the country and in Europe. It has been my experience that at the end of the tour, the docent states that if anyone like the tour they should feel free to offer a tip then points out the location where to put the money. No pressure, just suggesting it. Pat and Dan really did deserve a tip as they went over and above my expectations.
Informative, enjoyable, peaceful. Hosts were friendly. We had never been on the rivers, so it was fun seeing Fort Wayne from a different angle. It was well organized, and it left on time (even a little early!)
Fantastic! The docent gave so much history as well as updates on future river projects. We will taking another ride when the fall foliage is in full glory.
The captain and docent were accessible, knowledgeable, and engaging.
Pat Jones is very knowledgeable pertaining the events of ours rivers in this area.
Our party of three really enjoyed our tour on the Sweet Breeze. We had not been on the rivers before this pleasant informative trip. Pete's excellent commentary offered a different perspective of the important part the rivers made in the formation Fort Wayne.
The only thing I did not like was the fact that you could not have beverages. I brought some elderly ladies on the trip. Going an hour and a half in hot weather without anything to drink was not good for them
The Sweet Breeze, the tour guide (Mark Meyer) and the rivers were all excellent. We both learned a lot and were very impressed with how clean the rivers and river banks were (compared to our previous "uninformed" impression), and at the amount of "natural" riverbank we still have. A tour on the Sweet Breeze is a great value and a wonderful introduction to the role the rivers played in Fort Wayne's history. I have only one complaint, and it is a serious one: The peek.com web site where I entered my credit card information was not using the secure https protocol. It was using the normal http protocol, which means that my credit card information was sent in plain text from my computer all the way to the peek.com pay site. This is a serious problem. I will not use the unsecured site again to reserve a cruise. Altogether a great experience. A+ for the cruise and narrative provided by the docent, but an F for the web site using an insecure protocol for credit card payments. Thanks
the volunteer who conducted the tour was very good, knowledgeable and personable. The boat staff were all excellent. Thanks Debra
The docent was very knowledgeable and interesting. I enjoyed going up top as the view was great. I tried to get family members to come up but they didn't want to miss anything that was being said. The history of the rivers and plans for riverfront development in the future were very interesting. Seeing Fort Wayne from the river is a different perspective than seeing the rivers from street level. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect! Thank you very much for providing this opportunity!
A fabulous experience and Mark Meyer was terrific!
We especially appreciated the tour guide's level of detail in delivering his depth of knowledge about the rivers. Though the scenic ride was beautiful, it was the history, the present uses, the plans for restoration, and the uniqueness of three rivers converging that made this a highly satisfying adventure.
It was a very pleasant tour. The guide/docent was educational and knowledgeable and entertaining. Only suggestion I'd have is better signage. It is hard to drive and look for a boat in unfamiliar streets.
Great boat ride. Learned an enormous amount about Fort Wayne and its history. Very pleasant and knowledgeable guide. Pleasant scenic boat ride.
The crew and volunteer were very personable and knowledgable. We learned quite a few new stories re: Fort Wayne (we were both born and raised here). We are excited to see the new interest in our rivers! Looking forward to further developements along the banks. Keep up the good work! We own a canoe and look forward to having more choices for launching!
Our Docent was amazing! Knowledgeable, fun, interesting... the ride was beautiful. So so much fun!
Patrick Jones was a great narrator for the trip. He's very knowledgeable about Fort Wayne River history. He knew right where we were at all times too and could tell the riders. Customer service was a great help with booking questions. So glad we have this new boat now.
Boat was on time, well located ( although directional signage was poor on finding dock/boat). Docent was excellent both in knowledge and friendliness. Docent was difficult to hear and needs to be amped. Would have liked to have travel farther up the St Joe past NSHS, Centlivre brewery, Johnny Appleseed Pk. Our party enjoyed the vovage and would recommend it as a must tour when visiting Fort Wayne !
Great guide and boat captain. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
An extra tab on outfitters website w/canal boat & pontoon boat rides only easier to sign up. Create a 1/2 page brochure about river trips & rentals with info. Have Visitors Bureau promote trips. Give a brochure to each guest who has taken a cruise to talk to friends.
We enjoyed learning so much about the rivers and the surrounding area and the future plans.
The Joneses we're pleasant, answered our questions, we're knowlegable, ride smooth, great visibility. Nice evening.
Everything was clean and comfortable and the captain and firstmate were very helpful and knowledgeable. The cruise was fun and pleasant. In fact the 90 minutes went by fast. It was fun to see the activity on our rivers right downtown. I highly recommend this tour to everyone.
we enjoyed the river, and am looking forward to all the improvements to come
The boat was very nice. The guide "read" his commentary - feel he should know this info. The crew was pleasant & overall a good tour. I called for directions to pick up boat & was told an address to put in our gps. Well it took us to a dead end by the jail. We figured we needed to drive one more block to Harrison St & then to an alley down to where we could park. I suggest directions be put on the website & more signage out directing one down to the pier. It's a little pricey & hopefully that might come down. We were 3 adults (one was a teen) and child. But we think it's a neat addition to Ft Wayne & hope the new barge will get more of the river cleaned up.
It was a lovely evening traveling in a nice boat. I enjoyed the historical information and actually would have appreciated more.
It was interesting without being over the top on history. It was relaxing and peaceful. Captain Dan and the driver were very friendly. Loved it.
Great ride with the perfect amount of history, environment and future development. Only comment - it would be great if bottled water could be purchased on-board.
The canal boat ride was what I expected. I found it a little difficult to hear the guides talk throughout the trip...if they were in the back I couldn't hear and in the front too much feedback from the system. Overall good experience though.
We couldn't find where to get on the boat. Need directions on the website and a phone number to where someone will answer. We were glad we got there 45 minutes early or we would have missed the boat. We even asked a Fort Wayne police officer and he didn't know where to go. Otherwise very informative and interesting!
We appreciated the opportunity to take a ride on the rivers. We looked forward to learning everything we could. We were not in a location on the boat where we could converse with Dan Wire. We couldn't hear a lot of information he was giving the back of the boat. The lady who seemed in charge and was dominate in front read facts from her clipboard. I would suggest Wire be in charge and available to all. Thanks for asking,it's a great boat.
excellent guide, and beautiful weather. Had a little trouble finding the dock. No signs were posted. Headwaters Park West has a lot of river front to cover. Parking was a little crowded.
The boat ride was great especially the guide was excellent and very interesting. We had a party of 20 and everyone learned much about our rivers. I hope next year the reservation process will be easier.
It was a most interesting tour of the three rivers. I haven't spent much time downtown, but the tour guide was easy to listen to, made coming back to Fort Wayne to explore more areas a high priority. When I called Fort Wayne Outfitters with a couple of questions, the person who answered was polite and very helpful. Coming from out of town I only wished that I had had .an email with directions and information on where to park, since the canal boat leaves from the opposite side of the river from Fort Wayne Outfitters.

Four friends accompanied me on the Canal Boat. Weather was perfect for the ride. The Canal Boat was very comfortable. The captains operated the boat very safely and professionally. The abundance of information shared by the captain was absolutely amazing. Though I do not live in Fort Wayne, I was so pleased to learn of the plans to save the three rivers and the surrounding river banks. The progress thus far is most impressive. I realize the Canal Boat ride is new. However, few of the people in the area for the Three Rivers Festival had knowledge of the dock location. Although the dock is temporary, the placement of a sign on the railing of the dock would assure future riders during the season that the dock is the correct location tor this delightful excursion. Thank you for this privilege.
