This is my second trip and I still heard new things about Fort Wayne and the river history.
Our docent was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun and interesting. We learned about the past and the present Fort Wayne. The ride was smooth and comfortable.
We enjoyed the ride and learned a lot about the river. We sat in the back of the boat but couldn't hear the speaker very well. It was even worse every time he turned away from us.
I had a great time. It was serene, beautiful, and educational. And, the weather was perfect.
The staff and lecture information told me things about FW that I never knew in my lifetime of living here.
Enjoy the ride very much learned a few things about Ft Wayne I didn't know & I like the gentleman who told us about Ft Wayne was very good
The docent was very knowledgable, the weather great and the ride was peasant and relaxing. The communiaction of where to park, when to show up etc. were all very helpful. We've passed the good word on to others. One suggestion would be for the docent to use the microphone. Even though his voice was loud, the talking of the riders often made it difficult to hear what he was saying.
The tour was good but my group of 23 ladies was not totally satisfied with the seating. They allowed a smaller group to bypass us and what seating was left was backless, small benches. The seating should be equal in quality. One lady felt it was overpriced.
We thought the tour guide dude Avery good job. He made it very interesting.
We had to sit in the very front because of my elderly mother-in-law's walker. The front part where we sat did not give a very good view of the river. Along with being very warm and no breeze we couldn't see forward at all, which was disappointing. They should install some kind of windows in the front part of the boat so that passengers could at least see out to the front of the boat. Really need better accomodations elderly and handicapped customers. The narration part of the tour was very good.
The narrator did not have a microphone, so we only heard about half of what he said which was very disappointing. My mother wears hearing aids, so she heard even less. There is not light fixture in the bathroom and I could not figure out how to flush the toilet, sorry. I was wearing my prescription sunglasses and it was too dark to see. We sat on benches that did not have backs on them which added another challenge. The employees tried very hard to make the experience enjoyable, they were well dressed and very friendly. Good signage to find out way. The schedule was punctual which I always appreciate. Lovely boat. Hope you can work out the kinks as it is a nice idea.
It was an informative, enjoyable trip along Fort Wayne's three rivers! Our docent, Mark, was a wealth of information!
This is our second River Boat Cruise. The docent is wonderful! The crew are fantastic!! So enjoyable.
So interesting, the history around the rivers. Our guide was excellent. Easy to listen to and his stories just flowed. I will recommend it to friends.
Excellent volunteer story teller. Smooth ride. A bit crowded...full load.
I chose this tour for my 86 year old mother and it was perfect. It was relaxed and informative.
We ended up standing on the bow because the guide was right next to my head and a fire extinguisher in my back and my daughter was stuck in corner. It turned out ok but for the price, seating could have been better.
Making reservations was very easy, and when I had to make some adjustments, things were handled efficiently and in a friendly manner. The day of the cruise was exceedingly hot...the crew brought along extra water, were pleasant and knowledgeable throughout. Our guide was very informative about the sights we saw along the way. The only thing I could have wished for was more early history about the area of the rivers from Indian days and the early battles and settlement of Ft. Wayne. I had family with me from all over the country and they really enjoyed the trip, too. Well done !
Good tour guide, very relaxing ride, 1st time on rivers & have lived here all my life. Learned some history, plans for river projects, etc. Good overall information.
Sweet Breeze is a sweet ride! Relaxing. Lovely. Interesting history. Courteous & thoughtful staff.
This was my 2nd trip this season. This time I brought a friend from out of town. She loved it!!
I purchased this trip for my grandmother's birthday. It was a very nice trip with a lot of historical knowledge. Overall, we enjoyed it. The only areas I feel could improve would be the chairs being so close to one another, there isn't much leg room. And the price is a little on the high side, as I paid $113 for 3 adults and 1 child.
Great tour, informed guide.
The tour was excellent. I couldn't believe how much history of Fort Wayne that was presented, and how interesting it was. I'm sorry, but I don't remember the tour guides name, but he did a fantastic job, in presentation, pace and tone. I will be recommending this tour to my friends, and will also return when we have out of town guests.
This was a wonderful experience. The docent was very knowledgeable. I learned and saw things I have never experienced before. I will be back.
Very informative; Great Guide
A great trip. A beautiful boat. the narrator does a great job. Seeing Fort Wayne, from the river, is very interesting. Only. can add, do not miss the 90 minute boat tripThe captain and crew do a great job. Glen and Chris Bickel.
The canal boat ride was so relaxing and very educational! Thank you!!!
Great experience. Very entertaining and informative.
It was a very enjoyable tour with an energetic, informative docent. I liked the discussion on a variety of topics including history, the waterway, the vegetation, and restoration/preservation efforts. It really exceeded my expectations.
Very informative and relaxing , my 87 year old mother really enjoyed it, thank you!
Had a great time on the Canal boat. The captain was very informative & encouraged questions. I live in Kokomo, but was pleased to learn about the Rivers projects and their care. Fun Day!
The boat is beautiful and comfortable. The narration was interesting and sometimes amusing. My husband and I loved this boat ride! Jeanette DeVore
It was a very beautiful day and the boat ride was enjoyable and informative. The entire staff was helpful and professional in every way. I would recommend the Canal Boat tour to anyone that would like to know more about the rivers in Fort Wayne.
The group which happened to be on our cruise was very talkative. So, we could not hear all that the docent was sharing.
Wonderful experience to finally see Fort Wayne from a different perspective. The boat was beautiful and the entire crew very welcoming and friendly. Having just recently completed a similar Wendella boat tour of the Chicago river and lakeshore (and paying a similar price per ticket), we were however expecting a more formal presentation from the docent. While it may be somewhat unfair, it's hard for us not to compare outings. At present, the Chicago tour is a better value. We say this not to be critical of your operation but to provide a personal perspective of comparable experiences. With that said, we would still recommend you to others and we wish you all the very best and hope for a long and successful run. This is a positive development for Fort Wayne and we are fortunate to have you! If you would like to discuss this review in additional detail or have questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Our docent Pat Jones did an excellent job of describing the rivers and their function throughout the growth of our city. He also told us some fascinating historical facts, specifically relating how our area of the country was instrumental to the Indians as well as the growth of our nation. It made me long for more. There were people of all ages on the tour and everyone seemed rapt with attention. Some of the children were walking about the boat but Pat did not let that distract him. He spoke clearly and made certain everyone could hear him. Dan Jones was an excellent Captain. It was a smooth, safe ride. I understand they both grew up on the rivers and I think their knowledge made the trip safe, fun and interesting. I really liked that we were free to roam about the boat. I don't think I could have set still for 90 minutes. It was also nice for picture taking. You may want to have some books available for sale at the end of the tour for those who are interested to learn more Fort Wayne history. Also, I have taken riverboat rides all over the country and in Europe. It has been my experience that at the end of the tour, the docent states that if anyone like the tour they should feel free to offer a tip then points out the location where to put the money. No pressure, just suggesting it. Pat and Dan really did deserve a tip as they went over and above my expectations.
Informative, enjoyable, peaceful. Hosts were friendly. We had never been on the rivers, so it was fun seeing Fort Wayne from a different angle. It was well organized, and it left on time (even a little early!)
Fantastic! The docent gave so much history as well as updates on future river projects. We will taking another ride when the fall foliage is in full glory.
The captain and docent were accessible, knowledgeable, and engaging.
Pat Jones is very knowledgeable pertaining the events of ours rivers in this area.
