Lovely day ride experience - This was a great family activity and we enjoyed being able to go at our own pace. our first experience of e-bikes. These were good quality and enabled our daughter to enjoy the ride as well. A couple of places it was a bit unclear which way to go so signposting could be a little better (we didn’t get lost but another couple on the same tour did). We had excellent weather. We were glad we did the 10.30 and not 12.30 as we might have struggled to finish in time. The patisserie in Albert Town was a great place to stop for our lunch. We had time when we got back to the start to do a quick ride to the Wanaka Tree for a photo opp.

A great day with a great company - Hawea Lake to Wanaka (and further to Glendhu Bay) is just a ride you must do when in Wanaka!! With the trail from Albertown (after Pembroke Patisserie, also a must!) to Wanaka just wonderful! And doing this with nzbiketrails with James makes it perfect!!!!

The best way to appreciate the Hawea/Wanaka region - The friendly and professional service we received from James far exceeded our expectations. The information he provided us with on our transfer from Wanaka to the start of the trail was extremely informative and gave us points of interest to look out for. The e-bikes we were provided with were perfect for the terrain. Whilst this ride is relatively easy (we are a group of “old codgers”) it enabled us to soak in the spectacular scenery, stop periodically and enjoy a great days outing. From our first contact with NZ Bike Trails we couldn’t fault them as a company- great dialogue throughout, seamless booking process and always on hand to attend to any issue which may have arisen. Definitely allow time to pop into the Pembroke Patisserie; deliciously fresh and tasty seasonal food. Thank you to all the team at NZ Bike Trails.

Great introduction to Wanaka Cycling - Great views across Lake Hawea, and all down the Hawea River which was truly beautiful. What crystal clear clean water. Inspiration to keep riding and walking. David, gave us great advice on staying safe and using our e-bikes. And side tips on Wanaka sights. Excellent day out.

Amazing e-bike Trail - Amazing e-bike journey around Lake Wanaka. David was very informative and the e-bikes were great. David drove us to our starting point and made sure we had the right information to follow the trail. We bikes at our leisure for 3+ hours and the landscape was breathtaking. Great day! Lia & Randy

NZTrails provides a Great Experience - We chose NZBiketrails based upon all of the reviews. We selected the mid morning pickup and E-bike ride from Lake Hawea to back to Lake Wanaka, a nearly 30 kilometer ride. We took our time and stretched it out to nearly 6 hours. David is passionate about trail riding and it shows in his attention to his riders. At the drop off point. He trained us in the use of the E-bikes and showed us a map explaining the route and the checkpoint at the Pembroke Patisserie in Albert Town. We were surprised to find him waiting there to check on us and warn us that the cafe was closing in 15 minutes… The entire experience was how we had envisioned it from the reviews and photos. Two Caveats. We are two 70 year olds in above average physical condition, but we had never ridden E-bikes before. They are much heavier than traditional bikes and my wife found it harder to “muscle/manuever.” The trail was not as well paved as we would have expected and had some difficult areas to cover. There were a fair number of jutting rocks and roots that we had not expected. My wife fell a few times. All told, we had an enjoyable day and would do it again if given the chance and a little more E-bike practice.

A fantastic experience - James is extremely friendly and helpful. The schedule is flexible - you can spend more time to explore the area if you start early or ask them to pick you up early to catch a shuttle. Definitely recommend.

A must do tour in Wanaka! - We had a blast on the tour! Great way to see all the nature and learn about the local area. Our tour guide James was amazing! Highly recommend!!

Beautiful bike ride - a must do! - My friend and I went on this bike ride and thoroughly enjoyed our time doing so! David was really thoughtful and helpful - picking us up in Wanaka, and driving us to the starting point near Lake Hawea. It was super easy to follow the path, and the bikes were in great condition - which made all the difference on the 30km route. The route was quite flat and relatively easy, especially for the first half. The second half becomes biking on a walking path, which has branches and narrow points in the pathway, which the bikes also handled well and was cool to experience this! We definitely recommend this tour and want to thank David for his awesome experience.

Great ride! - David, our tour guide (and company owner) throughly explained the route beforehand. The equipment was good quality and in proper working order. The ride was very enjoyable overall.
