Highlights
  • Mount Hua West Peak Cableway - Upon arriving at Mount Hua, a shuttle bus will transport you for approximately thirty minutes to the cable car terminal. A ten-minute cable car ride will bring you to the North Peak, where you’ll embark on a hike. It takes about an hour and a half to reach the summit area, the East Peak. You’ll spend roughly three hours traversing the mountain’s summit area, moving from the East Peak to the South Peak and then to the West Peak. From the West Peak, you’ll descend the mountain via cable car. The current hiking route is steep and narrow, resembling a ladder, so please proceed with caution.
Typically, the ascent is made via the North Peak and the descent via the West Peak cable car. If you have any specific requests, such as preferring to hike back and take the cable car down from the North Peak, please inform your guide. We will need to adjust the cable car ticket arrangements accordingly. Thank you for your understanding. We always reserve your entrance tickets three days prior to your tour date.
Please bring along some bread and snacks since lunch is not included in the tour package, and there are no quality dining options on the mountain.

Additional Information

You are scheduled to assemble at the hotel’s reception area by 7:30 am. From there, it will take us around 2 hours to reach Mount Huashan. The trip will begin either from a hotel situated in the heart of Xi’an city or a designated point in Xi’an’s downtown.

Formerly recognized as ‘Xiyue’, Mount Hua is the westernmost mountain among China’s Five Sacred Mountains. It’s nestled in Huayin city, Shaanxi Province, approximately 120 km (75 miles) from Xi’an. Mount Hua presents a grand spectacle with its precipitous trails, stunning cliffs, narrow pathways, and magnificent scenery. However, the trails are quite steep and tight, making it China’s most treacherous mountain for climbers. Hence, please exert great caution while climbing.

Historically, people often referred to Mount Hua as Taihuashan. From afar, its five peaks resemble a flower, which is ‘Hua’ in Chinese, thereby earning the mountain the name ‘Huashan’. It is also revered as a sanctuary for Taoism.
