While tracing John Paul II’s path around Krakow, you’ll primarily get to experience Wadowice - a town treasured for hosting the Pope’s ancestral home and various heartwarming spots from his early years. Frequently, Karol Wojtyła, together with his father, attended church services in the nearby Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, and during his papacy, visited the Sanctuary of the Passion of Christ and Mary. This enchanting site also features on the UNESCO world list of monuments.
In Krakow proper, you cannot overlook the Łagiewniki region - an area integral to young Charles’ life during the occupation, and currently houses the sanctuaries of the Divine Mercy (where sister Faustina rests) and Pope John Paul II himself.
