- Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - Embark on a journey to the ice cap of Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
At your arrival to the base, you will be fitted with an insulated cover-all, helmet and a balaclava face mask. When you are all geared up and ready you will step into a glacier truck that will drive you to to the snowmobiles. (1 hour each way)
Your professional snowmobile guide will show you how to manoeuvre a snowmobile and then you head off on to the ice cap. You will spend about 1 hour on snowmobile driving around the ice cap, stopping at spectacular photo stops and educational and fun tellings from the guide.

Please be at our location 30 minutes before the start of the tour.
Our main base is Ytri-Sólheimar 1 in Mýrdalur about 25km west of Vík and about 11km east of Skógar. From Reykjavík there is about 160km and the driving time is about 2hours. From the main road is 1.2km drive by road 222 to our base.

Fun and cool. - Though the tour for a family is kind of expensive, we still recommend it. It's really fun and cool. The tour guides are very friendly, helpful and professional. They provided the insulated cover clothing. So, the cold temperature and the wind weren't issue at all.

Experience of a lifetime! - Experience of a lifetime, riding with my son on top of a glacier in Iceland! Staff was very helpful and I felt very safe. The view was amazing and the guides were very good about keeping us all together and at a good speed. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Tour Guide - Harpa was our tour guide for a South coast day of fun. She took us to three waterfalls, the glacier snowmobiling excursion and drove us around throughout the day. We all (group of eight of us) agreed that she was an absolute pleasure to be with during our 11-hour adventure. We highly recommend requesting her as a tour guide!

Awesome! For the adventurous! - The experience was so great the guides were so patient and nice. Great instructors and so knowledgeable about the glacier and surrounding area. The trip was awesome and views were incredible. However, this is definitely for adventurous thrill seekers not casual vacationers!

ATV tour along beach, plane crash, etc. - Our trip had to substitute ATV riding for the snowmobile due to icy conditions but the tour was awesome, a lot of fun. Our guide, Erlingur was excellent at explaining some of the local history and detail related to what we were seeing. He was patient and looked out for everyone’s well being as well as trying to ensure we were having fun.
This is a really great tour, I would recommend this to anyone having a few hours to spend.

Great experience. - 3 if us shared two machines but we all got a good go. The route was cut short because of the weather, so we were taken to an ice cave which was really cool and unexpected!

Good experience, bad value for money - The experience in itself was very good. The views were spectacular & was a beautiful day.
Cons:
- The experience was listed as 2 hours, what we didn’t know is this 2hours starts from the moment you leave the centre. We only had about an hour of actually snowmobiling. For the price this is extortionate
- The snowmobiles skis were pretty flimsy and cheaply made meaning if you’ve never been snowmobiling before they are very easy to flip & hard to steer

Bait and switch - We arrived at 2:50PM for our 3 pm booking. At arrival we were told they were running approximately an hour behind. Oskar told us it was because they didn’t set up for the noon ride on time. We overheard him talking on the phone saying there was a mechanical problem with the snowmobiles. Further when you book and pay for 3 people that is not actually the price. When we arrived we were told we had to pay an additional fee as only 1 snowmobile was reserved. I’ve contacted them twice now to see about a refund with no response.
