Adventure in the mangroves - The tour will remain in your memory and the drive to the BioBay is an absolute adventure in itself. Once there, the actual tour begins on the water. The guide explains with great enthusiasm how the bioluminescence comes about. Unfortunately, we had to wait 30 minutes until we were picked up again. But no problem at all, then you have enough time to watch the guide improvise a campfire and you can start catching crabs in the mangroves yourself. We have rarely laughed so much. Just remember to bring enough mosquito spray.

Great tour - We went on the night of the new moon. It was amazing to see the water glowing, we even got to see a few fireflies!

Pure magic - One of my favorite excursions on my trip! It was so beautiful the view of the stars was incredible. The bioluminescent bay was just as magical as I hoped for. My kids all enjoyed it and loved it. Our tour guide was top notch he was knowledgeable and very friendly. So, overall made the experience even better!

Worth the trip; favor this over kayak - The tour guide was super knowledgeable. He explained the way the algae’s work and the environment. You can tell he truly loves the environment there. It was a super enjoyable tour too.

Be careful, it's a bit risky. - It's heavy rain at that night, and there is no instructions for Kayak green hand. When we are on the boat, and on the low tide, the tide pulled us out of the bay, we shouted out "Help!" for many times, but the tour guides just didn't care, and stood on the bay, and didn't come to us for any help. But finally, we were luckily to go back by ourselves. The tour guide was not responsive at all!!!! Be careful if you are not good at kayaking.

Not worth the price and hype - The tour was just an hour long. Didnt get to see much bioluminescence and the tour guide just gave a 15 min talk in the middle of the kayak on the water. He could have talked to us about all this while on the land and allowed us to kayak a little longer and enjoy the experience. We travelled all the way to Vieques island just for this and it was not worth it. Mainland Puerto Rico also has lots of kayaking and biobay options which I would explore if I plan this trip again

MOST EXPENSIVE BIO BAY TOUR AND THE WORST TOUR - AVOID - This is my 3rd bio bay tour in vieques for reference. This was by far the worst tour in vieques. We kayaked out and once we got to the good part the tour guide talked to us for 10 minutes straight and then we abruptly paddled back in. Had no idea that was all the time we would get to see the bay and we had to listen to him talk the entire time instead of enjoying the water. The tour was the shortest in duration that I’ve been on. We were the first tour out of the water. He literally gave us no extra time. Just kayak to the middle then listen to him talk for 10 minutes then paddle straight out. Also their pricing is 50% more expensive than if you google it and go to one of the higher rates tours. Also they drive you in a really cramped and smelly old van instead of a nice big school bus like the other tours.

Disappointing service - Our trip was for 7 I received a text saying they would meet us at the meeting point at 7:30 I tried calling and texting to confirm that wasn’t a typo because our tour was booked for 7 no one answered. On the instructions it says meet 10 minutes before your tour Time. Our tour guide used OFF spray on himself before taking us in the water which you are not supposed to do clearly doesn’t care about the fragile eco system of the bay. He didn’t take us all the way out didn’t allow us time to experience the water then said we had to hurry and paddle in. Upon exiting the bay we waited 30 minutes while getting ate up by mosquitoes because our van had left. We ended up paying another company to let us ride with them back. The bay is a beautiful amazing experience but the tour guide and company you use has a huge impact on your experience. Choose wisely!!!!
