- Sea Waves Restaurant & Cooking Classes - You will be joining a traditional Sri Lankan cooking class with a chef that has more than 30 years experience of cooking. We have a small Family Restaurant Business. The chef is passionate to teach and to share the experience on how Sri Lankan meals are cooked and allow you to experience a delicious meal after the lesson.They also speak fluent English and will be guiding you during this amazing class.You will be in an open kitchen with a nice jungle view so you will be able to see monkeys.birds.etc..
We have two session per a day.Before the class we will go to fish and vegetable market to choose what you like to cook and then we will make a dish with five vegetables plus fish or chicken depending on your preference.

Your cooking class takes place in a local family restaurant in Unawatuna where your chef will teach you how to make nice traditional Sri Lankan dishes in clay pots from our family recipes. We will teach you how to make your own spices as well. After cooking, enjoy your meal together.

The best cooking class in Unawatuna! - We had a really nice cooking class with Susanthi at the last day of our honeymoon! We learned how to cook with fresh vegetables and chicken (that we first bought on the market) and made the most delicious food! Thank you Susanthi for being such a sweet and fun person!

Wonderful cooking class! - We had the most wonderful experience with Susanthi! She was so sweet. She took us to a local grocery store to buy fresh vegetables and chicken to cook. We learned about all the different spices and herbs that they use in the Sri Lankan kitchen. We made the best food and she gave us all the recipes afterwards. 10/10 for us!

Highly recommend - Our cooking experience started with a trip into Galle to buy fresh produce from the market. We were able to choose the protein and vegetables that we liked. The cooking experience was wonderful. Susanti was so generous with her time and knowledge. Would definitely recommend and definitely do again if I’m ever back in SrI Lanka.

Best cooking class from going to local market to cooking everything to having lunch. - Thanks a lot Susanti for your warm welcome.
We loved going to market and buy our ingredients, then coming back to the kitchen and participating in making these 7 different dishes, all very tasty.
My personal favourite: snake gourd salad and her secret recipe of dhal. Yummy

Best cooking class I have been so far - I did the cooking class by myself. It was a great experience. You get to choose what curry to make. We made a sweet/sour tuna curry, pumpkin curry, sweet potatoe curry, okra curry, dahl and a delicious aubergine salat! A must for your travels! It was a very local experience. ✨

Thank you, Susantha!!! - As my first cooking class this did not disappoint! Susantha was extremely friendly and took lots of time to find out about me and my family when taking us around the fish and vegetable market, careful to pick the freshest and best food to use in our cooking. This course is perfect for either meat or vegetarian eaters as Susantha will cater to any requirements, making this experience completely customisable, as Susantha let us choose what fish and vegetables we wanted to use. I had an amazing time and the would 100% come again or recommend for everyone, also very good for the price as this includes all travel and food costs, thank you Susantha!!!

Fantastic Sri Lankan Cooking Experience - We had a fantastic experience of the Sri Lankan Cooking at Sea Waves. The trip to the fish market was a real eye opener!!! The food we cooked was delicious and can't wait to get home to try it all out again.

Great experience - We Learned a lot about the Sri Lankan Cuisine! First, we all went together to the market in Galle (Fish & vegetarian market) where those of us that eat fish could decide on which fish & also decide on 5 sorts of vegetables that we cook.
Throughout the Class she explained well what/why/how we use certain ingredients in the Sri Lankan Kirchen.
The Food we prepared tasted amazing!
