Highlights
  • Skanderbeg Square - The first thing we will explore is the main square of Tirana which is composed from the Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower of Tirana, the National Theater of Opera and Ballet (in which the first brick was put by the ex. President of Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev). We will not forget to see the National Bank of Albania and than we restart our trip.
  • Muzeu Historik Kombetar - We can find different pavilions from different periods of Albanian history, learning more about the old and hidden part of Albania.
  • Fortress of Justinian - The Fortress is a fortification regarded as the historic kernel of the capital. The preserved ruins show that the castle was probably founded in antiquity, maybe in the Early Byzantine period.
  • Enver Hoxha Pyramid - As a symbol of the notorious communism years, it resisted some attempts to be destroyed by previous governments. But it is still there, un-restored, a symbol of the mixed and contradictory history of Tirana.
  • House of Leaves - The House of Leaves Museum shows us the harsh communism reality. It used to be the National Intelligence Agency, an espionage house. It is one of the most intriguing places in Tirana, that tries to narrate to young people and to foreigners one of the darkest periods of the country’s history.
  • Blloku - The Block is the location of former Communist dictator Enver Hoxha’s villa. During the period of his rule, the area was only reserved for government officials and the general public could not enter, while now it is full of fancy and colorful coffee shops, boutiques cocktails bars and pubs. We will take a stroll in the most vivid neighborhood of Tirana.
  • Polytechnic University of Tirana - The Polytechnic University of Tirana is the oldest and the second largest university in Albania, after the University of Tirana. It was founded in 1951 and now has approximately 10,000 students, who come from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro.
