Rain or shine - It's a great experience. Our Tour guide Laura was friendly and knowledgeable. Our driver also shared his experiences. It rained out entire time at El Dorado (Guatavita Lagoon) I wish that it was sunny so I could take better photos.

We were visiting for a fun long get away, and we had the best tour guide and driver. Laura was our guide - Laura our your guide was perfect, fun, understanding and caring. When one of our group fell behind she made sure they were taken care of. You could tell she had done the tour before and was able to fill in pieces that we missed from the tour guide. I would recommend using both her and our driver.

Excellent Guide - Had a private day tour to Guatavita and the Salt Cathedral from Bogota. Everything was well organised from pick up from the hotel till drop off. Andrea was an excellent guide. Helped with the translation at Guatavita and waited patiently for me while I visited the Salt Cathedral. Also helped me take pics. Had a great time chatting with her during the trip. Highly recommended.

A day in Bogota! - My tour guides and driver were awesome - from the moment they picked me up at my hotel until they dropped me off. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around. Guatavita Lake was beautiful, you get to experience the country side of Bogota. The salt cathedral is unlike anything I’ve ever seen too - simply amazing. At last moments notice, I asked to visit Monserrate and for a small extra charge, They were able to accommodate me and add an extra 2 hours to my tour and visit it. Definitely worth the money for about a 12 hour tour!

Great tour guides! - We had the pleasure of having Miguel and Daniel as our tour guides for this whole day trip. Miguel had impressive knowledge of Bogota, guatavita and zipaquira. Daniel had great command of the English language and translated for us really well. They were both thoughtful and considerate of all our needs. They were flexible and really easy to get along with. They answered all of our questions and kept the conversation going for the entire trip. We highly recommend these two as tour guides!

Overall good. - Had a good tour overall. Guatavita is beautiful but you have to join another tour group once you get there. The pictures of the salt cathedral don't do it justice, it's great. I passed on the audio guide and just explored. My guide Diego was good and accomondative. You could maybe do everything solo, just know traffic is a beast.

Guatavita is a must, salt cathedral, desapointing. - The Guatavita lake is a must. A very interesting place and very pretty. The salt cathedral was a bit desapointing. At the end of the tour the cave becames a mall, which kills the "spiritual experience". Besides it is very tiring doing both things in the same day.

Cathedral worth a visit but skip the guide - So the salt cathedral is totally worth a visit but you don't really need to pay a premium for a guided tour. In our case it may have been the guide who was a) not very comfortable with English b) wasn't really offering us any insights about Bogota or the country on the hour long ride or during lunch and instead was happy chatting with the driver. The mini van we were in also seemed to lack suspension and the ride was extremely uncomfortable. We skipped Guatavita because we didn't want to add to the discomfort. Much as we were disappointed with the guide (we had massively more enhanced experience using a guide in Medellin and Cartagena so were a bit spoilt), I will give credit to the tour company for working with us to switch from Guatavita to Monserrate and not charging us more for it. The cathedral is amazing and the recorded audio self tour you can rent does a good job of giving context. I would recommend simply renting a car or a cab to transport to and back instead of using a guide. It was out last day in Colombia so we were a lot more comfortable getting around but it is not that hard. Many of the companies that pick you up from airport also offer this service without the premium for a guide.

Not worth it. - This trip entailed basically a driver and a translator and not much else. The translator spoke mixed English, and didn’t provide much information outside what the tour guide at the lake provided, which she translated for me. I wasn’t told what to expect or given much background for either the lake or the salt cathedral in advance. At the salt cathedral, she purchased my ticket and headset and sent me on my way. The salt Cathedral was amazing, but unless you are interested in native Colombian mythology, I would skip the lake. Most of the day was spent in the car… 1.5 hours to the lake, 1.5 hours to the salt Cathedral, and 1.5 hours back to Bogotá. But, both the translator and driver were extremely friendly, nice, and pleasant.
