Embark on a 2-hour guided kayaking expedition on the Waikato River, one of Taupo’s hidden gems. The exquisite beauty and serene surroundings of these pristine waters will astonish you. Start your aquatic adventure at the leaping-off point of New Zealand’s mightiest river, gliding by several islands, nature sanctuaries, pleasant bathing areas, and the adrenaline-inducing drop zone of the Taupo Bungy. The journey finalizes with a dip in the Natural Hot Pools. Free photos are provided with the experience.

- Kaitiaki is the Māori word for the Guardian of the Environment. This is collected on behalf of the local iwi for their role in taking care of Lake Taupō and the Waikato River. This will be collected when you arrive.

Really enjoyable - Great gentle kayak down the beautiful river. Guide was good fun and very informative. Took some wonderful photos which were shared. Easy to find the venue and all the staff were great

Gentle kayak with the current and a hot water stop - This is a very gentle kayak trip, down a pretty river. We had the river to ourselves at 9 am, so it was peaceful and beautiful. We stopped at the Spa Park, where hot water falls into the river. If you want (and I did) you can swim with the current in the river and enter the bay where the hot water is.

Loved it- even in the rain - Doug was a great guide and despite the rain we all really loved being on the river with him. This is a very easy kayak- ideal for beginners. THe river pretty much carries you down without any strenuous paddling!

Great 'must do' outdoor adventure. - I highly recommend this kayaking trip, it was fabulous. The river itself is majestic, felt so good to be immersed in nature. Our guide was extremely helpful/skilled, and I appreciated the instruction at the beginning of the trip as I didn't feel overly confident. I also enjoyed hearing about his kayaking adventures, very inspiring. I will do the Māori Rock carving kayak trip next time I am back in Taupō.

Wonderful - This wasa wonderful way to end our holiday. Enjoying the scenery and peace of the river. Next time we will book a longer Kayak. We all enjoyed it very much! Thanks to our fun guide who had lots of fascinating information to share.

Strongly recommended for people of all ages and skill levels - It was tranquil beautiful day on the water. Thanks to friendly and professional staff of Taupo Canoe and Kayaks there was nothing to worry about. We were surrounded by pristine nature of Waikato region and visited hot water beach. Bring your toggs to soak in this natural pool. Also, we were observing bungy jumpers from the best viewing point - from the water.

Easy paddle, spectacular scenery - Loved this trip! A leisurely paddle down the mighty Waikato, in the most stunning surroundings. Our guide, Jar, was fantastic - very knowledgeable about local history and lots of fun. It wasn't too strenuous - anyone could do it - highly recommended!

Kayaking as a Fun Gang - Signing up as a university group of 15 people, we all had a great experience. Despite the cold weather and the low tides that made us struggle getting the kayaks into the Waikato River, the staff were super accommodative, friendly and humorous to make us all enjoy the ride.
