- Hwaseong Fortress - Suwon was one of four main regional government centers during the Joseon dynasty. Hwaseong Fortress, built to protect the city, was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site on December 12, 1997 for its historical value. The fortress offers various performances daily as well as the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival every fall. The walls stretch for 5,700 kilometers, with Paldalsan Mountain at the center. The fortress, constructed from 1794 to 1796, was built as a display of King Jeongjo’s filial piety towards his father and to build a new pioneer city with its own economic power.

Very good tour. - Richard our guide was great and very knowledgeable. Hwaseong Fortress is amazing. It’s a bit outside Seoul but the car was lovely and comfortable The folk village was excellent esp the museum part.

This was a private tour and our tour... - <p>This was a private tour and our tour guide was great. I would have preferred some "on my own time" to shop or wander around but I don't think that's how this tour is set up to be.</p>

I enjoyed it but the tour guide was... - <p>I enjoyed it but the tour guide was not very keen on us watching the shows in the Folk Village. Apparently everything got cancelled ! He was always in a hurry.</p>

Good ride, not a professional guide - Transportation was good, a nice van. We were only two guests.
Our guide was very friendly and talkative. He was very interested in our home land. Unfortunately he didn't know anything about the fortress. The folk village he managed to cover with basic knowledge about Korean culture. I'm not sure, if he's role is normally a guide.
