Highlights
- Surabaya - Start your exciting expedition with a convenient pick up from the Airport / Hotel / Train Station in Surabaya by our professional local driver and tour guide at 11.30 pm. Travel 3 to 4 hours to the Mount Bromo area.
- Mount Bromo - Transfer to a thrilling ride on a 4WD jeep to Mount Penanjakan where you will witness the perfect sunrise view. After the sun ascends the sky, you will head over to Hill of Love by 4WD jeep for a photo opportunity.
- Mount Bromo - Cross Sea of Sand (Horse ride is available, rental fees are excluded). Then climb 250 stairs to reach the rim of Bromo Crater.
Return back to your jeep at around 8 - 9 am.
- Madakaripura Waterfall - Head to Madakaripura Waterfall to enjoy the magnificent natural sight, the journey is about 1 hour driving. This is optional, you can skip waterfall if you want.
Kindly note that entrance fee for Madakaripura Waterfall is not included. If you would like to visit, the entrance fee for Madakaripura Waterfall is around IDR250,000/person including the local Madakaripura Waterfall tour guide & motorbike ride (about 5 minutes ride).
Do note that for the tour guide at Madakaripura Waterfall are not our tour guide. They are the local people there who actually insisted on being guides due to lack of job opportunity there, and we are unable to choose the tour guide because there are queue guide rules by the local authority. Thus, the tour guide might not be able to speak english at all but the tour guide will stay with you in & out the waterfall.
- Surabaya - Drop off at Airport / Hotel / Train Station in Surabaya at 1pm. If you are going to the waterfall, the drop off time will be at 3 to 4pm.

Once a year, they hold the Kasada festival to honor the gods by offering vegetables, chickens, and money thrown into the volcano’s crater.

Great trip to Mount Bromo - We had a great trip with our guide Dede. She was very patient with us especially as my wife was injured prior to the trip and couldn't make the climb up fast. We were picked up right on time at our hotel in Surabaya. We added the Milky Way package hence were picked up a few hours early. We had a quick drive for about 2-3 hours and then we transferred to a 4WD jeep to get up Mount Pananjakan. We reached up to the viewpoint around 1 AM. Unfortunately, the milky way was not that clear that night. But we nevertheless enjoyed the clear sky and stars. We waited in the jeep till 3 AM. The nearby cafe opened and we had our coffee and noodles to keep us warm. As the other jeeps started coming in we went back up to the viewpoint. The views were amazing as the sun started peeking. There were way too many people as it was the weekend but we still were able to get some great pics.
Around 7 AM we went down to the Sea of Sands and then began our trip up to the crater viewpoint, unfortunately, my wife and I did not go all the way up to the crater but it was still an amazing experience.
Around 10 AM we started back from Bromo. We changed back to our car and then headed towards the Madakaripura Waterfalls. We had to use motorbikes (price included) to reach the entrance. Our guide there was wonderful. He was able to help my wife all the way into the waterfall without injuring herself.
After 2 hours, we rode back to Surabaya.
All in all, we had a lovely time and would recommend this to everyone.

Amazing Mount Brumo Sunrise and Beautiful Waterfall with Private tour from Surabaya - I ( female traveller) was traveling solo and took a private tour to Mount Brumo Sunrise and Waterfall from Surabaya. The trip went very smooth and I got an amazing trip. My driver was Gilang and tour guide was his sister Mega,
they are young, very friendly and can speak English very well, I felt very peaceful and safe along the trip. Really recommend to them if you want to make your trip unforgettable & fantastic trip....

Mount Bromo - From being picked up in Surabaya to visiting Mt. Bromo and then returning to Surabaya, everything went smoothly, and the sunrise seen at the top of Mt. Bromo was beautiful, making it a very satisfying trip.
Surabaya has good transportation access from all over Indonesia, so if you are going to visit Mt. Bromo, I recommend using this tour. The temperature at the top of Mt. Bromo is below 10 degrees, so it is very cold, so be sure to take measures against the cold.

Incredible experience - We chose to see the sunrise on Mount Bromo: our guide Gilal came to pick us up at the hotel in Surabaya to take us to the slopes and change cars for a Jeep. We then went up to watch the sunrise from the lookout point and the edge of the crater. It was truly incredible.
The Madakaripura waterfalls are no exception, about an hour's drive from Mount Bromo. A 2km walk through the jungle to get to another sight.
Gilal speaks English well and was very helpful for anything, only in the forest the guides are local people, but still kind and helpful.
Definitely be equipped for the cold at dawn and very well with change and shoes for the waterfall.
Everything super recommended, unique experience!

Nice panoramic view but terrible traffic - The drive from hotel to the garage to change from a car to a jeep was not very pleasant. The roads have potholes and drive was rather jerky and bumpy. The jeep was also not very comfortable. Maybe the suspension was not very good. It was a mistake to go over a weekend. Crowded and very difficult to take pictures without getting someone else in the frame. There was a jam getting from the view point to the crater. Queue to climb up the steps. Crowded everywhere. Best to go on a weekday to avoid massive crowd. The views were amazing but I can do without the crowd. The drive back to Surabaya city also took longer than expected because of heavy traffic.

Nice views, but different than expected - All in all, a great experience, but unfortunately our tour guide didn't know anything about the places and couldn't really tell us much.
The journey there was very adventurous, or rather unpleasant, because the driver drove so fast and hectically - even though we had already gotten to know the traffic for two weeks. After several requests to turn the AC down, he didn't comply and we arrived completely frozen.
Otherwise, the guides were nice and the view was beautiful, you just have to be aware in advance that this is an absolute mass tourism event, where there are only two of you in the car, but around you there are 1000 people doing the same thing.
