Additional Information

Considering what activities to partake in while in Stockholm? Come along with us on a day-long trek in the enchanting Stockholm wilderness. This adventure enlightens you on the flora, fauna, traditions, and history of Sweden.

Agenda:

As we arrive, we don our cozy beanies and begin tamping down the snow with our footfalls. Throughout our journey, we will have plenty of discussion about plant life, Scandinavian creatures, and nature in general. We strive to veer off the beaten path as much as we can, aiming to introduce you to the profound beauty of the forest and lead you to our cherished hidden nooks.

At midday, we take a pause to kindle a fire for warmth, prepare lunch, and relish in a comforting hot cup of coffee or tea.

As the daylight wanes, we’ll need the aid of torch lamps. Afternoons often provide the best opportunities for animal sightings. If weather permits, we will traverse one of the icy lakes amidst our course out of the nature reserve, before making our way back to the heart of the city, leaving your mind filled with countless unforgettable moments.

Stockholm - A piece of nature and conviviality within walking distance of Stockholm. Good Can be combined with a city trip. Good lunch and nice walk, without it being too far

Great hike - Had an amazing time on this hike! The guide, Lucas, was very knowledgeable and super nice! It’s a great tour to get you away from the more touristy things in Stockholm. Would definitely recommend, even in winter, but bring snow boots!

Great experience - Coming from a country with no snow and no forests/big parks, it was an absolutely great experience to do this hike. We also managed to see some deer. I highly recommend this activity.

Lovely walk through woods not far from the city - We had a really lovely day, and it was great to see some of the nature outside of the main city. It wasn't far to the office by metro from the centre, and it was a surprisingly short walk to then be in Nackareservatet. The walk was a loop around Söderbysjön. Our guide Daniel was great, leading us and another guest through the woods off the main paths as we did a loop of the lake. He was friendly and obviously knew a lot about the trees and nature in the area. We stopped after a couple of hours for a fika break overlooking the lake, and when we reached the other side Daniel got a fire going and cooked some sausages for lunch. All the food and drink was provided. We were lucky with the weather - it was a bit chilly but sunny and dry (unlike some of the rest of the week). We didn't see any animals but did see a couple of interesting birds. Overall, it was beautiful and I'd definitely recommend it.

Lost in the forest hunting for the wolves - Family of 2 adults and 3 children registered for the wolves day-trip. After a 1-hour ride, we reached the place where we started our walk in the forest. It felt really nice to walk in the snow searching for wolves footprints. Part of the walk was also on a frozen lake. On our way back, our guide seems to have lost us in the forest and the walk back to the place we will be having lunch was very long. Kids were hungry. We had lunch around 16h30. After that, we were heading towards a place where we were supposed to cross another lake, go up a hill and call the wolves. It was totally dark. The kids were scared and, at some point, we heard the ice cracking under our steps when walking on the lake.... We told the guide we were heading back to the car and would not cross the lake. For sure an experience we will not forget but it felt the walk was not "ready" to accomodate tourists and not fitted for children (9, 10, 12 yrs old).

Lazy communication and unhelpful - Operator cancelled a couple of days before and were offering a full refund as they did not want to do the tour with just me (because they could not make enough money presumably), which was annoying but acceptable at first and I told them that was acceptable and asked them how my refund would be processed. The next day after I had rearranged my plans they uncancelled without answering my question. I was then told in the confirmation that I required hiking boots which as a world traveller I did not have and did not expect when the advertisement at booking said everything was provided. Trying to be understanding I emailed, texted and called over several days seeking their guidance as to where I could hire the equipment, from them or elsewhere and I was willing to spend the extra money despite the lack of communication. I received no response. At 7:30pm the night before I was finally emailed and told they did not hire the equipment and they did not know who could, also they understood it was now too late to do anything about it and it would be difficult for me but I could still go (I felt like this was basically putting it on me to cancel rather than offering a refund). Needless to say after paying $172 this is not what I expected. No refund was offered and they took my money of course for doing nothing. A full day later I was emailed a sorry you could not attend and come back again, no mention of the money the took or the inconvenience they caused. Do not book with this company. I see it has some good reviews - perhaps it has changed management or it is just this activity. But there was a complete lack of customer service and I feel like they almost intended that I cancel so they could take the money for nothing. Do not book. Look elsewhere.
