From Indira Gandhi to Sophia Loren - I couldn’t make a group tour so Vedran agreed to a personal tour on Sunday 8th October; and what a privilege that was. Not only the history of the resort but we strayed into more personal territory in relation to the Homeland War which made the tour emotional as well as interesting. Vedran is a consummate professional, with a love of his country and his work. He is also engaging and charming. Thank you for those few hours Vedran. This tour is well worth doing and I highly recommend. I know that people can wander round the site but a guided tour is essential to understand what you are looking at and also to understand the title of this review. The beach is the best in the area so ideal for a nice swim after the tour.

Fascinating tour of Kupari - We wanted to get a deeper insight into Dubrovnik, beyond the beauty and beaches. We were lucky enough to get that with Verdran, who vividly brought the war to life and gave us a sobering tour of the destroyed hotels at Kupari. (We also added a Mlini tour, but I think that is less interesting to the casual visitor unless you are staying for an extended time in Mlini.) Thank you!

Kupari Derelict Holiday Resort Tour 2023 - We had noticed this derelict beach resort from the water taxi on the way to/from Dubrovnik one day and were fascinated by it and wanted to learn more about it. Luckily we found this tour with 3 Keys Guided Tours via a leaflet at our hotel reception. I contacted Vedran via What'sApp as the set tour days on the leaflet, didn't fit in with our plans for the week. Vedran was quick to respond and was able to fit us in last minute for a personal tour of the Kupari resort. Firstly, what an amazing and fascinating place! Vedran explained all about the history of this ex military beach resort, from it's beginnings as a tile factory (that supplied the red tiles for the roofs of Dubrovnik), to the busy and popular holiday resort for the rich and famous during the 70's and 80's. We were shown around three of the now derelict hotels, where original reception desks, bars and even the Olympic sized swimming pool are still there. Vedran explained about the design and use of the hotels back in the days, before the Homeland war, where they were heavily targeted by the opposing side, with the scar's from the shelling still visible today. I can highly recommend this tour, as Vedran is so knowledgeable about it's history and then subsequent demise. What's great is that it is all open for you to have a longer look around once the tour is complete. Interesting to see if plans for it's possible redevelopment in the coming years. Take time out of the usual tourist trips around Dubrovnik and explore this historic and fascinating place. Oh and wear bug spray, we got caught out! Thanks Vedran for such an amazing experience and your kindness with the transport. Tony & Nick Visited September 2023

Fantastic guide - The guide can always make or break a tour, in this case Kendra was fantastic, he had first hand knowledge of the homeland war as a teenager and you could get a better view of things through his eyes. To see the shells of the hotels was a very sad experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Croatia.

Kupari walking tour was the highlight of our holiday - Walking tour of Kupari (the ruins of several grand hotels used as a military retreat pre 1990s) with Vedran is a must. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fascinating tour of the bombed hotels in Kupari. Vedran gave us a brief history of the area, the background and impact of the Homeland war and led us through the shells of each building that remained. Vedran was a first class and engaging guide who spoke perfect English. Highly recommended.

A history lesson made interesting - We really enjoyed our little tour of the abandoned hotels in Mlini. History doesn't have to be boring and Vedran's guided tour of the 1993-95 war and a walk through the damaged hotels was anything but boring. Vedran explained and simplified the conflict of war that effected the local area and their homeland, including real events that happened personally not only to him and his family but to his neighbours, bringing to life by personally reminiscing and sharing his own experiences of growing up as a boy in Mlini and bringing to life for us the simple way the locals lived and his memories of the tragedy he witnessed as a youth. The changes and the effects of war and then rounded off the tour by bringing the tour up to date and leaving us with a sense that what was destroyed was now having a chance to be brought back to life again through investment and tourism. Mlini is very beautiful and Vedran brings to life the past events in this tranquil bay and made us think of how easily things can suddenly change.. Definitely not a boring history lesson.... A must if you're nosy about the past and you want to know why the hotels are still left as they are after the conflict and break up of Yugoslavia.... 10/10 Vedran

Walk through Kupari Hotels Area - This tour is very informative and provides you with an interesting overview of Kupari and the local area. Your guided tour takes you from the Srebreno port along rocky coastal paths to the beach and the war ravaged hotel buildings. Verdan has experience of some of the hotels when they were local amenities and were enjoyed by locals, tourists and military. It helped your imagination to view old photographs depicting the hotel and factory in better times, It was reassuring to enter the buildings with someone who had been there many times before. Highly recommend to find out about the recent turbulent history of Kupari.

The highlight of our holiday - A fascinating tour given by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. Vedran paced the tour well and interspersed description with photos and video to bring the history alive. We saw inside some of the abandoned buildings located in the beautiful setting of Kupari beach and coastline. I would 100% recommend this trip for adults and teens.

Walking into history - Kupari - Excellent walking tour of Kupari with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Vedran paces the tour to suit the group with plenty of time for photos and questions. We learnt so much from him about that period in Croatia's history. Highly recommended!
