4D / 3N trekking on India-Nepal border. - This was our second private trip with Adventures Unlimited. Catherine customized itinerary according to our requests and fitness level. We also met her husband Gautam before trekking, to get gears, safety briefing and…recommendation for best restaurants in town ;-) Communication with them is easy and you’ll get quick answers to your questions. During the trek, our guide Tenzy always chose best itineraries, especially to get the best point of views. Admiring Everest at sunrise is something we’ll never forget.

A perfect experience of the Singalila trek - We had many communications with Adventures Unlimited before taking this trip. Catherine was always quickly responsive, thoughtful and clear. This gave us a strong sense of security in our planning for this long-envisioned trip. We spent a few days in Darjeeling to get used to the higher altitude and Adventures Unlimited met us and gave a lot of valuable information about the trek coming up. Abishek, their main guide, showed us around town and made our stay very interesting and enjoyable. We wouldn’t have known what to do without him. The we started the Singalila trek with guide Tenzin, who lives in a town in this part of the mountains and has many years of experience guiding this trek. He is an expert in many ways: helping those with trouble breathing at high altitudes (this author) to pace and rest at intervals appropriate to avoid trouble yet get to the destination on time; pointing out birds, of which he has a great stock of knowledge; making sure all the arrangements are as comfortable as practical under the circumstances; and being an excellent hiking companion. Tenzin is one of the leaders of the guides association and we could tell because he seemed to know everyone along the route and to be by tacit consensus the one in charge whenever multiple groups converged. We were lucky with the weather. It didn’t rain and was clear enough to get good views of Makalu and Lhotse (and a little of Everest) from Sandakphu and great ones of Kachenjunga from Phalut. It could not have been better. No one wanting personalized travel in this region should consider anyone else.

Perfect Sandakphu-Phalut 6-day trekking experience with Adventures Unlimited - Due to great reviews of Adventures Unlimited we opted to let them organize a 6-day trekking to Sandakphu and on to Phalut. The communication during the month prior to the trekking in April was excellent both through email and whatsapp. Catherine made sure we would take all we need for the trekking from home, and everything else Adventures Unlimited provided, including warm sleep liners and down feather jackets. We asked for a bird- and nature-minded guide, and they arranged for just the best guisde we could wish for, Tenzi Tamang. Tenzi was very caring providing just everything you could wish for during and after a sometimes demanding trekking day: a freshly brewed coffee, a bucket of warm water for refreshing, always a tea and biscuits, and nice quality piece of cake during a strenuous hike. He went out of his way to look for birds and tried hard for Red Panda. He got me onto the much wished for Satyr Tragopan (bird). He taught us a lot about the flowering Rhodondendron species in the Singalila forest and knew everything about the mountain peaks and history of mountaineering. He always made sure the vibes were great with a fine sense of humour, and made our trekking feel completely custom made to our wishes and needs. We asked for a porter, and Solor was just the great companion you wish for with humour and taking his job seriously, caring for us all along. Important to mention is that Adventures Unlimited organizes the trekking all inclusive, meaning that all housing, food, drinks, pick up and drop off, guide fee and permits are all included in the package price. No additional costs were requested post-trip, in stark contrast to most trekking companies advertising the Sandakphu trek. The mountain views of Kangchendzonga and Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu (4 of 5 highest peaks of the world) were just the best experience! The debrief and evaluation of Adventures Unlimited owner Gautam at our homestay was very welcome and a caring experience. All in all, go with Adventures Unlimited for the very best experience with no worries at all!

Trek 2N3D - My trek to Mount Sandakphu was an unforgettable adventure, shared with three of my closest friends. The scenic trails offered panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the stunning Kanchenjunga, and each twist and turn brought new breathtaking landscapes. The weather held up nicely, adding to the enjoyment of our hike. Our camaraderie made the challenging parts of the trek more manageable and fun. This trek was not just about the physical journey but also about strengthening our bonds through shared experiences in nature’s spectacular setting

Incredible 3-day trek with stunning views of the Himalayas! - The trek was amazing, and we would 100% recommend anyone visiting Darjeeling to do it with Adventures Unlimited. We chose the 3-day trek option which was a steep climb but worth it for the views at the top - we wish we’d had time to do a longer one! Amar (our guide) was great, the food was tasty, the guest houses were nice both nights, and the forest walks were beautiful. Most of all, the views at the top were breathtaking - we saw 4 of the 5 highest peaks in the world!! Cath and Gautam are super friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond to make the whole experience easy and stress-free. We rented everything we needed for cheap rates, they gave us great recommendations for food/drinks in Darjeeling during our stay, and they even planned the route for our trip to Sikkim afterwards. They are a lovely family and would recommend anyone visiting Darjeeling to reach out - we’re excited to come back to do another trek at some point in the future!

Great Customized Trek, Friendly and Knowledgeable Folks - We were a group of 5 people of varying fitness levels. Had a great time with Catherine, Gautam and our guide Amar. They helped create a customized itinerary for us that allowed us to do the trek till Sandakphu and back in 4 days. Were extremely helpful and very involved - visited us in person the evening before the trek and gave a lot of info, we needed some help with coordination on the way and their responsiveness was great, sent some coffee/ cheese / cake kind of goodies for the way, and more; have a genuine passion and desire to help one have the best experience, which shows through in general Would recommend them very highly.

Incredible trek in the Indian Himalayas - We went with 6 friends to do this trek. Three of us wanted to do 3 days and the other three wanted 4 days. Catherine managed to organize this for us even though we had done it 2 days before and most of the agencies we contacted could not find a good solution. The 3-day trek passed through Tonglu and Sandakphu, the 4-day trek added Phalut. It was an incredible trek with passages between Nepal and India. We are immersed in the trails of the Himalayas and feel the Nepalese and Buddhist culture. We get lost far from the horns and the crowds to see landscapes, each more beautiful than the other. The climax remains the view at Sandakphu of the largest peaks of Nepal! (Everest, Makalu, Lothse and Kanchenjunga) As for the organization, everything is planned, transport, guide (Incredible guide at that), sleeping bag, meals and accommodation for the night. Only water must be purchased on the way (between 20 and 50 rupiah max for a 1L bottle). Walking poles and a 15L carrier are also available if you don't want to carry the burden (we did without a carrier, so be aware that you need to be in good shape for this trek) I recommend this agency 100%. By taking it yourself I think you would perhaps save between 10 to 15€ per person but honestly for the time it will take you I really advise you to go through them it was a great experience!

Great! - Our trek in the Himalayas was an unforgettable experience. We went for the 6-day Singalila Trek, and our guide Arpan was knowledgeable and very friendly. After making the ascent to Sandakphu we were a bit affected by the altitude and opted for an alternative route further down towards the end of the trek to get some relief from the headache. Early on, the paths were covered in mist and clouds with limited visibility, but in the end the mountain peaks showed their full glory as the skies cleared. The route took us through very diverse and beautiful landscapes, from lush forests, blooming Rhododendron, gushing rivers and colorful Nepalese villages. All in all, we can fully recommend Adventures Unlimited for this trek - everything was very well organised, flexible and friendly. The owner of the company, Catherine, even came to meet us in our hotel both before and after the trek to answer questions and receive feedback. Thanks!

Positively delightful experience with Amar - Absolutely incredible experience. This was my first time trekking, and the longest hike I've ever done. My guide, Amar, was helpful, polite and patient with me, happy to take the journey at my pace. Catherine and Gautam arranged excellent stays along the way, with hearty and nourishing local food. Dal bhat power, 24 hours! I also got the chance to try local toomba and roxi, two rustic and delicious traditional beverages. The views were stunning, and each day featured a different microbiome to explore. I heartily recommend Adventures Unlimited for anyone seeking an invigorating escape into nature.
