Sighisoara - Founded by Transylvanian Saxons during the 12th century, Sighişoara is a fine example of a small, fortified medieval town which played an important strategic and commercial role on the fringes of central Europe for several centuries.
Designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this perfectly intact 16th-century gem with nine towers, cobbled streets, burgher houses and ornate churches rivals the historic streets of Old Prague or Vienna for atmospheric magic. It is also the, also known as Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler), ruler of the province of Walachia from 1456 to 1462. It was he who inspired Bram Stoker’s fictional creation, Count Dracula.

Our tour guide in Sighisoara was... - <p>Our tour guide in Sighisoara was Charles and he was an absolute mine of information on the history of this beautiful city. The tour included everything we had hoped to see including the covered steps to the Church on the Hill. If you want to go into the church there is an added charge of 8 lei around 2.00 and this includes being able to take photos inside. We walked through the cemetery Charles will ask if you are ok with this and down the hill past some of the guild towers. I think this was better than going back down via the covered steps. Charles wasn't in a hurry and even extended our tour as we were so interested in the history. Great experience and well worth the cost.</p>

Old city with lot of history in its walls - Sighisoara is one of the cities in Romania you can't miss. If you go in hot seasons you will assist to many festivals organized.
