The temple stands at the top of a hill, 8000 feet above sea level and offers a panoramic view of Shimla. The temple is dedicated to the Monkey God, Hanuman. According to the Hindu epic, Ramayana, Hanuman stopped here for rest when he went in search of the magical Sanjivini herb to revive Laxman (brother of God Rama). Visit to Shimla - Shimla capital of Himachal Pradesh is situated at height of 2180 Meters (Ridge ).From Jackoo Temple TV Tower of Kasouli is visible westward.Height of Jackoo Temple is 850FT above Ridge. Anadale situated below Victory Tunnel is very charming view. Toy Train is UNESCO. Heritage is main feature.Many worthseeing places like Vice Roy Lodge Christ Church are heritage buildings. Lakkerh Bajar & Shotta Shimla Lower Bajar ,Longwood are part of this city. This City is known as Queen of Hills.
