Night market with a local - We had a really nice evening with Tony at the Shilin night market. This market is really big and can be overwhelming so it was great to go with a local who knows what to try and the best places to try it. We knew of a few things we wanted to try and Tony showed us the best places, and he also suggested some things we never would have tried on our own. We also just enjoyed chatting and learning a little more about life and food in Taiwan. Definitely recommend this tour if you're looking to get the most out of visiting a night market in Taipei!

Great way to spend an evening of great street food and company. - We ate and learned so much during the tour. There were a lot to see at the market and it can get a bit overwhelming and intimidating. We were glad to have Mavis guide us through the market. She shared her knowledge of the area and pointed us to the right spots and stalls for great street food. Mavis is knowledgeable and very easy going, it really felt like we were just hanging out with a good friend. Just make sure you are hungry and bring a little bag for trash for the tour. It was a great tour and we highly recommend it!

Great night walk - We were greeted by JM at Exit1 of JianTan St. The previous day he texted with all info needed & also helped with directions to reach. He walked us through the entire Shilin night Market, gave us local information. We stopped at different outlets to try out their speciality dishes. Stinky Tofu is not a dish I would care for. We tried their oyster omelet, hotstar fried chicken andTaiwanese pudding with taro balls. Over all a great experience. Would definitely recommend it. It takes around 1/1.5 hours

Must do - This tour was excellent. My guide was Mavis who was super sweet and fun. She knew all the best spots to eat and shop. I was solo on my trip and thought that the market would be overwhelming alone and I think I was right. Having Mavis with me was perfect. Highly, highly recommend.

A guide is a must for engligh speakers - What a great night! Our guide Mavis was so friendly and knowledgible we COULD NOT have done the markets without her. It was insanely busy and she expertly guided us through the crowds to the best stalls.

We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time with Mavis as our guide. She knew exactly where to get the things we wanted to try and introduced us to some foods we never heard of. The Shilin Market is huge and easy to get a little lost in so it was really nice having someone who knew the way. She was friendly and so knowledgeable. I recommend going at an earlier time since it gets super busy as the night goes.

waiting and paying (a DIY paid tour) - Our guide was spectacular. She was kind and knowledgeable. Our baby spiked a fever a few hours before and she went off the path to find us some basics for her care at home. Very kind and patient too! She was the only good thing about going.
outside of our guide the rest of this experience was poorly organized.
1. NO LINE CUTS in any other tour for food anywhere in the globe you dont spend 20 minutes waiting in line. there is limited time so doing this really stops the experience and limits the entire goal.
2. pay for your own food. at end of every stall everyone looked at me to fork over the cash. after forking over the case to get there why am I still paying to eat?
