The Island’s West end is truly awe-inspiring. It’s a location you would hate to skim through or overlook altogether. Devoting an entire day to explore this part of the island can’t be stressed enough.
The optimal vantage points for caldera and lake vistas are tucked away from the main road, making them a challenge to discover. However, with this experience, you get to immerse in all these spots, which is quite achievable in half a day with a local guiding you.
During our tour, we’ll take in views of Sete Cidades lakes, from various heights of the mountain, and also get to enjoy the picturesque views of Santiago, Canário and Empadadas lakes, including the incredible Grota do Inferno.
Our journey then takes us to the island’s darkest sand beach, along with breathtaking natural pools, located in Mosteiros. If it’s summer, you get the exciting chance to take a quick, refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters, or you could save the diving experience for the open sea thermal pool, warmed by the Volcano’s steam during low tide, at Ferraria. Our exploratory journey concludes with a visit to the island’s king at the Pineapple Plantation!

Most wonderful day with Carlos! -
I would highly recommend
Carlos. He picked us up at our hotel and we spent a delightful day visiting all the planned on sights.
He very much cared that we were able to swim in Termas da Ferraria and made sure the timing was perfect for us to enjoy this experience safely.
Carlos was able to answer every question was asked and provided great insight to cultural and economic details we were curious about.

A highlight excursion - great guide! - Our guide Carlos picked us up directly at the cruise terminal with a personal sign. We explored the west and northwest of the island with him. He took a lot of time for us and always had a nice story to tell about the sights. While the coaches had to move on quickly from the ships after 20 minutes, we had more time to wait for better weather for the perfect photo. Carlos showed us many great places away from the coach route and if we wanted to stop somewhere, we could let him know at any time. He was extremely helpful. Exploring the fascinating nature, the harsh sea and much more on Sao Miguel with him was simply brilliant. A highly recommended excursion, we will be back!

Amazing Experience - My husband Mike & I had an awesome day touring all of the west and Sete Cidades. Our tour guide Rita was brilliant. She was very friendly & knowledgeable. We learned so much about the Azores. She was very patient and kind. We never felt rushed at all. The views were absolutely amazing. You have to see it all in person to really appreciate the beauty. We were in awe of the lovely green grass, the mountains, the lakes and of course all of the happy cows. We hope to return to this beautiful Island. Thank you Rita.

Layover in the Azores - Our private car tour was awesome! Carlos was the best. He was so knowledgeable and informative that it made our short time in the Azores enjoyable. . Even after flying all night he was able to catch our undivided attention. It was a very nice way to spend part of a 12 hour layover to Madeira. We highly recommend Carlos. There may well be a trip to the Azores for holiday in the future. Beautiful island!

Memorable tours with a wonderful tour guide - We had a great western island tour with Carlos. He was knowledgeable, easy going, flexible, patient, and never once tried to rush us during the tour. We felt so comfortable with him that we booked the eastern island tour with him for the next day. We thoroughly enjoyed both days and have learnt so much about the Azores. Thank you Carlos.

Great day touring the Azores! - Great day with Carlos! He was extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk to. He was in no rush to leave us as. He allowed us to spend time at each site and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. He picked us up and dropped off at our hotel. We had a nice lunch with him at green love. Would definitely recommend this tour if you want to see a lot of the west and south shores!

Great tour! - Great trip! Was really nice to have a personal guide who was able to be flexible for our needs and interests (for example, a rest stop for a cocktail overlooking the coast!). We could tell he loves the island and knows the best ways to see it! We also had a lot of fun swimming in the Termas da Ferraria and it's nice that the tour is timed around being able to enjoy low tide there
