Additional Information

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, experienced the longest siege of a capital city in modern warfare history. Initially beset by the forces of the Yugoslav People’s Army, the Army of Republika Srpska laid siege to the city from 5 April 1992 to 29 February 1996 (1,425 days) during the Bosnian War. Remarkably, the city was under siege for three times the length of Stalingrad, and longer than Leningrad by over a year. The citizens of Sarajevo faced unimaginable atrocities, and a lack of basic human necessities like food, water, and medicine. This tour offers you the chance to delve deeper into the hardships faced during the Sarajevo siege, the fall of Yugoslavia, and the city’s steadfast commitment to upholding its multi-religion and multi-culture heritage.

Adis is the best! - Enthusiasm is the word that best describes our recent free walking tour of Sarajevo with Adis as our guide. From the very beginning, Adis won us over with his exceptionally kind and warm approach, making our experience truly unforgettable. Adis proved to be an expert when it comes to knowing Sarajevo inside out. His extensive knowledge of the city's history, culture, and local traditions was outstanding. His stories about various landmarks and events that shaped Sarajevo were not only informative but also highly engaging. His passion for the city was evident and contagious, further captivating us with all the beauty we had the opportunity to witness. One aspect we particularly appreciated was Adis' ability to tailor the tour to our interests. He was open to questions and suggestions, making an effort to involve us in conversations throughout the walk. Whether it was about local customs, gastronomy, or hidden gems of the city, Adis provided unique insights and recommendations that we wouldn't find in guidebooks. Adis' kindness and care for our group were exceptional. He was always there to assist us, answer our questions, and cater to our needs. Moreover, his ability to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere added an extra dimension to our experience. We felt like we were strolling around with a good friend who was guiding us through his hometown. Adis' guided tour was comprehensive in every way. We explored the main landmarks of Sarajevo as well as hidden corners known only to locals. We witnessed incredible architectural gems, visited significant historical sites, and immersed ourselves in a wealth of culture spanning centuries. Adis knew how to keep us engaged throughout the tour, introducing us to various stories and anecdotes that enriched our understanding of Sarajevo. Our free walking tour with Adis was a truly remarkable experience. His friendly demeanor, deep knowledge, and genuine passion for Sarajevo made the journey unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend Adis as a guide for anyone looking to explore and appreciate the beauty of this magnificent city.

Thumbs up for Adis - We had a great time with Adis. He has a huge knowledge about Sarajevo and a great humor. He speaks excellent English and if he is talking to fast, you just have to tell him :). I especially enjoyed getting his personal perspective on some political questions. Thanks Adis for the great input, and I definitely recomment your tour.

Your first stop for all Sarajevo tours - We did both the free walking tour with Adis and the Siege of Sarajevo tour. We were so impressed with the initial walking tour (Adis's thorough knowledge of the history of the entire region, Bosnia and the city of Sarajevo, his warm and friendly manner, and openness about his own personal experiences), that we booked the Siege of Sarajevo tour which was excellent. We would recommend any of his tours without hesitation.

Perfect tour! - Me and my friend had the best free walking tour we could have ever wished for! Adis was very friendly and happy plus he have great knowledge about the history of the city. He made the trip so it was like a timeline through the Sarajevo history. At the end we went and had a Bosnian coffee together and talked more about Bosnian, but he also asked questions about our home country. All in all Will we highly recommend you to go on a free tour with Adis!

Best Sarajevo Tour we could have wished for - We happened to accidentally almost have a private free walking tour which was great. Adis is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Sarajevo and will have a reply to your questions across all centuries. However, he is also quite funny and has a very entertaining way of telling you about his home city and country. It definitely rather felt like a friend is showing you around than a tour guide. We had our 3-year old with us and Adis was very patient with our pace and the toilet breaks, we had to take ;-) This might become more difficult with a larger group but in our case, this contributed to our overall great experience! We also chatted a lot about Germany so if you are visiting from there, make sure to go on a trip with Adis!
