Additional Information

Arrive at Santa Marta Marina by 9:30 am and locate the SONATA boat @ Gate. The voyage begins at 10 am, and we can’t delay beyond 9:50 am. The Sonata, a 58ft cutter rigged ketch boat constructed in Taipei, Taiwan in 1979, accommodates up to 26 passengers. Our route takes us into the wind toward Bahia Concha in Tayrona Park, taking in views of Taganga, Playa Grande, and Aguja Island along the way. At Bahia Concha, we’ll drop anchor. Our support vessel will ferry you to the shoreline, or you can opt to swim there. Snorkeling, SUP boarding, and sunbathing are available, but only in specified zones. Lunch and a single drink per person will be provided ON BOARD approximately one hour after we arrive. We require all guests to return to the boat by 3:30 pm for the return journey, wind permitting. We should be back at the Marina by 5 pm just in time for the Sunset view.

If there are weather restrictions from maritime authorities, we’ll explore nearby bays. Note that REFUNDS ARE NOT GRANTED if Maritime Authorities prevent travel to Tayrona Park, but full refunds are issued if all sailing is prohibited. Tayrona Park is closed from Feb 1-15, June 1-15, and Oct 19-Nov 2. During these periods, we’ll explore other adjacent bays.

Pleasant trip - Crew did more than expected. Offered us drinks, lunch on the beach, some snacks and even fruit. Sailing was smooth and enjoyable.

Tayrona Bay with the best tour - We had an awesome experience on the sailboat trip. From the beginning Ana made sure we were accounted for and in the right group. The staff on the boat made sure we were well hydrated, or lunch orders were prepared, and everything taken care of. The beach was beautiful with light waves and easy to swim around, paddle board, and sunbathe. The trees have great coverage as well and having chairs on the boat and on the beach was a big plus. And traveling with a smaller group was ideal. I would recommend this for anyone with families and like groups under 25.

Nice trip - Nice staff, great trip, good boat. We were in Easter week, it wasn't too crowded. They handed out safety vests. The ride to the destination took 1.5 hours

Amazing - The crew was great, thank you all!!! The park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I wish the trip was a little longer or maybe go to a couple of beaches. I would do this tour again anyway My family and me loved the experience

Fun day-trip to San Juan beach - My boyfriend and I did this trip as a way to see Tayrona National Park from Santa Marta. It was a fun boat ride and then we just sat on the San Juan beach for several hours. You have the opportunity to order drinks and snacks, but I would recommend bringing your own (the fancy coconut/pineapple beach drinks are really, really expensive and low quality!). Overall, we enjoyed the day though we didn't see much of the park. We met a really fun group of people which added to the experience. If you are looking to see more of the park, I'd recommend doing a hiking tour or going into the park yourself, but if you're looking for a fun day of day-drinking and beach-lounging, then this is the trip for you!

Don’t miss it - We took this tour on the day Tayrona Park reopened and had a fabulous time. The sailboat was comfortable and the crew was fantastic. They were attentive to everyone’s needs. What we thought was going to be a simple lunch turned out to be a real nice chicken or fish dinner on the beach. We would recommend this tour!!

Does not meet expectation - The crew is very friendly and attentive to everything, however the plan did not meet the expectations we had or the price charged. Lunch is made in the sailboat's kitchen which is not well kept and there was very little food. Nothing is known about Tayrona and in the place where you arrive there are no bathrooms, no cabins or anything and the bathrooms on the sailboat are not very clean. Likewise, where you arrive there is no where to buy but there are street people selling at quite high prices compared to other beaches. Overall it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good and it wasn't what we expected.

Didn’t meet the expectations - We signed up for English tour but the only person speaking a few English words was a crew member from Venezuela. He explained to us the basic rules(restrooms, time for lunch). We were brought to one of Tyron’s beaches for 3.5 hours to stay there. When we tried to get in the woods, we were told it is prohibited. The tour probably didn’t buy the entrance to the jungles for us. The meal was OK. It was a boring tour, not educational at all. The crew was nice and respectful.
